We are very excited to our announce that our school has been shortlisted to recieve an award for the 'Outstanding Provision of High Ability Students' award.

On Tuesday Mrs Watson and Mrs Steer were interivewed by a panel and showcased all that our school has to offer and how we are passionate about enabling all students to 'reach for the stars'.

Whatever the outcome, we are proud of the way our staff tirelessly invest in each student.

As a reward for our Indonesian Poster Drawing Competition winners, Grace B (Year 2) and Rosie W (Year 6), it was our utmost pleasure to be invited to the 81st Indonesian Independence Day Flag-Raising Ceremony at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Melbourne.

What a wonderful and unforgettable cultural experience it was for our young learners, Rosie, Alana and Elke! 🇮🇩

Our brave GRPS superstars even had the opportunity to “interview” some of the invited guests and performers, learning more about their stories and experiences. They embraced every opportunity to shine, rise and grow, while also showing great courage and willingness to try Indonesian cuisine — including Bakso (meatball noodle soup)! 🍜

Happy Principal Day ✨

Being the Principal at Great Ryrie is such a privilege.

Every day I get to experience the joy of seeing our children grow, learn and shine. 🙌

Whether it’s the excited stories at morning drop off, lunchtime visits to share something special, celebrating their learning, hearing all about a lost tooth, reading the beautiful stories they’ve written, or proudly helping them place a “You Are Awesome” sticker on their school jumper, these are the moments that fill my heart. ⭐️

Our children bring so much joy, energy and laughter into every day, and they remind me why I love what I do.

Thank you so much for your kind words, emails, thoughtful wishes and the beautiful print from the children on Principal Day.

Your generosity and support mean more than you know, and I feel incredibly grateful to be part of such a caring and special Great Ryrie community 😀

Tomorrow, GRPS will be celebrating International Friendship Day.
Throughout the day, students will take part in UR Strong friendship activities, designed to help us practise the friendship skills we have been learning through the program. Students will also participate in a classroom friendship-themed activity and have the opportunity to join lunchtime friendship clubs.
To celebrate International Friendship Day, students are encouraged to wear a pair of “funky socks” to show their uniqueness and celebrate that we are all different, and that’s what makes friendship so special.
We look forward to celebrating all the wonderful friendships within our school community.

A huge thank you to the team at Milk & Wine Co for their generous donation yesterday! What an amazing surprise. Our teachers were so grateful and touched by your support. We truly appreciate your kindness and generosity. 🥰

Today we donated morning tea to the wonderful teachers at Great Ryrie Primary School at their annual Athletics Carnival.

What a bunch of hardworking legends our teachers are!

We love supporting our community where we can and being able to be more than just a cafe.

📚 Save the Dates – Book Week 2026! 📚
GRPS will be celebrating Book Week during Week 6, Term 3 (17–21 August) with a range of exciting activities for students.
A highlight of the week will be our Book Week Dress-Up Parade on Friday 21 August, so families may like to start thinking about costumes over the coming weeks.
Other activities will include our Great Book Swap, a special author visits from Morris Gleitzman & Coral Vass, the return of the Door Display Competition, and a whole-school Reading in Cosy Places Challenge.
More information about each event will be shared closer to the date. We can't wait to celebrate the joy of reading together!

Year 2's had the best time at Scienceworks yesterday!!
We loved visiting the planetarium, watching the lightning show, and exploring all the amazing galleries. What an exciting day of learning!🔭⚡🪐
