Anyone who has an interest in DNA and genealogy will be really interested to know that Kevin Borland is coming to Family History Down Under.

Why? Because Kevin is the person behind Borland Genetics which he founded in 2018. Borland Genetics is a unique autosomal DNA database where users create public DNA profiles for their deceased ancestors, using the tools and methods provided on the site. In this database, you will not only be matched against the DNA kits of living donors, but you will typically find among your DNA matches user-sourced reconstructed DNA kits for individuals who lived long ago.

He’s making the trek Down Under from the US, so he will be there in Sydney, and will not only be presenting two talks, but will also have a stand. So you will have plenty of opportunities to catch up with him throughout the conference.

Ethics is something that every family historian should be mindful of, but not something everyone thinks about, or knows about, so it’s a topic that will be covered at Family History Down Under.

UK based, Dr Penny Walters, will be in Sydney for FHDU 2022, and she is excited to be sharing a presentation on ethics, along with hosting a workshop which asks the question “Are you an ethical genealogist.

And as part of the bonus conference program, she has a presentation on “Dissecting the UK Censuses from 1801”, which guarantees that it will open your eyes to some things about the censuses that you didn’t know.

FHDU 2022 SPEAKER – MIA BENNETT
The amazing presenters at FHDU keep on coming, and the next one we would like to introduce you to is Mia Bennett.

Mia Bennett is coming to Family History Down Under 2022 in Sydney to help us break through some brick walls and further our British research. Sometimes we learn better when someone shows us the process they use. And this is exactly what Mia will be doing in her workshops and presentations.

So, who is Mia? Mia is from Gloucestershire in the UK. She has researched her family history for over 25 years and is a professional genealogist specialising in solving family history mysteries using DNA. She is an Associate of AGRA and is studying at the IHGS. She gives talks and runs workshops internationally. She has a strong connection with the Society of Genealogists in London, having been a trustee. With two Unlock the Past cruises and several trips to events around the world, she loves to meet others who share her passion. Her website www.miagenealogy.com features blogs about her family as well as a gradually expanding ‘Information’ page.

Presentations: At Family History Down Under 2022 Mia will be sharing with us the following presentations:
