โœจStudent Spotlight!โœจ

๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒณFrom Germany to the treetops of Australia!
Lorena is currently studying Certificate III in Arboriculture at Richmond TAFE. Lorena discovered her passion for trees and the outdoors after years of working in gardening, maintenance, supporting elderly community members, and ground work with arborists.

Combining her love of nature with hobbies like canyoning and hiking, Lorena found the perfect career path as a climbing arborist. She enjoys the challenge of working outdoors and the unique perspective that comes from being high amongst the treetops.

Originally trained as a teacher in Germany, Lorena never imagined she would one day be maintaining giant gum trees in Australia! She loves the beautiful Richmond campus and the strong friendships she has built with her classmates. As she says, thereโ€™s a special bond formed when you're working high above the ground, suspended from a tree alongside your teammates.

When asked for advice, Lorenaโ€™s message for aspiring arborists is simple: always double-check your ropes and trust the system and work with your team on the ground. Today, Lorena freelances across the industry and continues to work alongside fellow arborists, including some of her former classmates.

We're proud to have students like Lorena turning their passion for the outdoors into rewarding careers! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒณ

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘ Congratulations to the students from the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Education๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰

Students have successfully completed a range of Manufacturing Centre of Excellence micro-credentials, including Maths for Manufacturing 1, Maths for Manufacturing 2 and Design Thinking for Sustainable Manufacturing.

The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with students particularly enjoying the hands-on learning experience and supportive classroom environment:

๐Ÿ’ก โ€œThe course helped me think differently and solve problems.โ€
๐Ÿ“š โ€œThe teacher was supportive and made learning enjoyable.โ€
โš™๏ธ โ€œI learned how maths is used in real manufacturing workplaces.โ€
๐ŸŽจ โ€œDesign Thinking helped me be more creative and work as a team.โ€

Through their hard work and enthusiasm, students developed valuable skills in problem-solving, creativity, teamwork and innovation, helping prepare them for future study and career pathways in advanced manufacturing.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this opportunity possible. We can't wait to see where these skills take our students next! ๐Ÿš€

๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿงฑ Hands-On Learning with the Latest Industry Innovations! ๐Ÿงฑ๐ŸŒฟ

This past Saturday, our Monday night Landscape Construction students put their skills into action, completing their practical unit on building retaining walls using innovative products generously donated by Galintel Australia.

Students worked with Galintel's galvanised steel retaining wall posts and the cutting-edge GO Sleepersโ„ข, which combine strength, lightweight design and sustainability to meet the demands of today's landscape industry.

We are thrilled to collaborate with Galintel Australia, helping ensure our students gain hands-on experience with the latest products and techniques being used in the industry. Partnerships like these provide invaluable real-world learning opportunities and help prepare our students for successful careers in landscape construction.

A huge thank you to https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=galintel%20australia and https://www.facebook.com/KingsMitre10 for supporting the next generation of landscape professionals! ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Learning from the Best in the Industry! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ

Our Certificate III in Landscape Construction students recently attended the 2026 TLA Landscape Expo, where they had the opportunity to explore the latest products, innovations and industry-leading techniques shaping the landscaping sector today. https://www.facebook.com/GalintelAus

These second-year apprentices, pictured here with their teacher Aaron, made the most of the experience by connecting with industry professionals and gaining valuable insights into current best practices. Experiences like these help ensure our students are job-ready and equipped with the skills employers are looking for.

Don't miss this opportunity to see the Mid-Mountains Garden Festival featuring some of the most beautiful private gardens in the Mountains!

A snapshot of what you'll see when our 11 gardens open to the public this Spring over the weekends of 12-13 & 19-20 September...

Back when this Festival first started in 1984, it relied on black and white photocopies of pamphlets, mailbox drops and parents driving up and down the mountains to put posters up on community boards, chats with neighbours and friends, to get the word out.

A lot of that still happens today but we also have the added benefit of online, digital space and the opportunity to reach more people, further afield.

If you're in a local gardening group or know a garden lover who would be keen to visit, share this post to let them know. We'd love to see you all in our gardens!

๐Ÿฆบ Safety First at Richmond Campus! ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ“

Today we teamed up with Jordan, our WHS Specialist, to hand out snacks to staff and students while sharing some important safety messages across campus.

It was a fantastic opportunity to chat about staying safe, the role of the WHS team at TAFE NSW, and how we all work together to create a safe learning environment. From classrooms to our hands-on practical training areas, safety is everyone's responsibility!

A big thank you to Jordan for taking the time to connect with staff and students and answer questions about workplace health and safety.
