The annual Pedal Power Cinema will be held on 4th March, playing the student voted film: Moana! We are kindly seeking any organisations or personnel for donations or sponsorship for our event. All prizes and funds will go towards the sustainability program at MGC.
A goal we have is to cover the new auditorium with solar panels! Spread the word, spread the love, hope to see you there!

Work Experience Week - whether you have fond memories or not, it is often a game changer for year 10 students. For the last two school years, WEW has been canceled due to the pandemic, so we thought we would bring a taste of it to the students by inviting three alumnae in via a MS Teams meeting. Jesse Walsh, Gaby Capone and Courtney Mckenzie discussed their work experience placements, and how to overcome the lack thereof for this year's year 10s. Perhaps the most welcome advice was learning that TV series such as Grey's Anatomy and Suits can indeed give you insight into a potential career path 😀
Thank you to all who participated!

On Thursday, the 4th of November, the Middle School Executive hosted an alumni career pathway session with Brianna Davey, MGC class of 2012, current co-captain of the AFLW Collingwood team and winner of the Best and Fairest award this past season.
The session was held to highlight an alum who has become a stellar professional athlete. Brianna has also earned a university degree in education, and she discussed the importance of having alternate plans as a backup when one chooses professional sport as a career.
Middle School Executive students, India and Ada, did an incredible job moderating the session, asking prewritten questions as well as taking questions from the participating students in real time.
25 teachers and 650 students attended the event via MS Teams.
Since January, 2020, Melbourne Girls' College has partnered with Ourschool an education charity, to establish an active alumni program. This Ourschool video shows the impact teachers have on the lives of their students, long after graduation.
If you are an MGC alum and have a message for a teacher who made a difference in your life, please leave it in the comments!
Thank you, year 2020 alumni, for your encouraging messages to our current year 12s. No one knows better than you what it is like to survive (and thrive) in the midst of VCE exams during a global pandemic.

Today we have a special request for our alumnae, another opportunity to give back - if you have the means to offer a work experience placement to one of our eager year 10 students, and we haven't spoken yet, please email [email protected]
Work experience will take place the week of 29 November - 4 December. Your involvement can be pivotal in the career pathway of one of our year 10s. If you can offer a placement for a day, two or all five, we will provide you with an enthusiastic, responsible student who may just join your ranks someday.
Thanks in advance!
