Wondering how to get your film made and out into the world? It’s not for the faint of heart and I applaud all my fellow filmmakers for their tenacity.

I think it’s easy to sit on the sidelines and think that someone who’s finished their film had an easy path. It’s never easy. And it’s never a straight line.

I’ve really enjoyed putting series 3 of the Documentary Filmmaker Podcast together. It’s given me a chance to reflect on the whole process which has spanned 10 years!!!

And I’m sharing the learnings to help others on their journey. At the moment we’re in release on Conquering Breast Cancer. And getting an audience to a cinema to see a film on cancer is no mean feat. So if we can do it, you can too.

Don't get caught up thinking that you have to have
💸 your funding in place,
🎥 your crew and talent lined up,
📖 your story fully fleshed,
and all the other pieces sorted out, in order to start making your film.

You need to start as soon as you can and go from there, step by step. That's how documentaries are made. I've never had everything in lined up in a row ready to begin and I've produced 12 feature docs and hundreds of short films in the past 15years. And you can too!
