Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA)

Earlier this month, Harvey, Scarlette, Mia, Tierlin, Lucas and Max travelled to St Paul’s Anglican College Warragul to participate in the Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA).

Representing the United Kingdom, the students debated real-world issues alongside teams representing other countries. Topics included the global sharing of immigration, weapons in outer space and the return of Indigenous artefacts.

The experience provided a valuable opportunity to develop debating skills and consider issues from different national perspectives. The students found the day highly enriching and would encourage others to take up the opportunity to participate.

Team Vic Softball Selection

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Chelsea Chambers, who has been selected to represent Victoria in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic 12 Years and Under Girls Softball Team.

This is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful recognition of Chelsea’s talent, teamwork and love of softball. After a competitive selection process, Chelsea has earned her place among the best young softballers in Victoria.

Chelsea will travel to Newcastle, New South Wales, from 25-30 October 2026 to compete in the School Sport Australia 12 Years and Under Girls Softball Championships. The championship will bring together talented young athletes from across Australia for an exciting week of competition.

Being selected for Team Vic is about much more than sporting ability. Players are chosen for their skills, athleticism, tactical understanding, teamwork, positive attitude, sportsmanship and ability to contribute to a strong team culture. Chelsea should be incredibly proud of reaching this level.

HAS Featured at GTAV Conference 🌏🔬

Newhaven College Middle School teachers, Melanie Flower, Steven Scott and Cynthia Young, recently presented at the Geography Teachers' Association of Victoria (GTAV) Conference, showcasing our innovative Humanities and Science (HAS) program.

Created just three years ago through collaboration between Humanities and Science teachers, HAS seamlessly combines both subjects to help students make meaningful connections and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

The presentation was met with enthusiastic interest, with teachers from across Victoria keen to learn more and visit Newhaven to see HAS in action.

With a pioneering program which is attracting attention across Victoria - we’re incredibly proud of the HAS journey!

Year 3 Camp: Adventure, Friendship and Fun!

Year 3 students had an unforgettable first camp at Candlebark Farm in Healesville! The adventure began with a visit to Healesville Sanctuary, where students enjoyed an entertaining bird show and came face-to-face with many of Australia’s amazing native animals.

At camp, the fun continued with a packed schedule of activities, including the low ropes, flying fox, rock wall and Gaga pit. Students also enjoyed delicious camp meals and worked together to keep their cabins tidy for inspections. Most importantly, camp gave our Year 3s the opportunity to build resilience and independence, strengthen friendships and enjoy the great outdoors together.

SEISA Indigenous Round

Today, we proudly honoured the Indigenous heritage of Millowl (Phillip Island) during our SEISA sports day at Newhaven.

The Indigenous Round is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across all SEISA sporting codes, while reflecting on the importance of respecting and caring for the Country on which we play.

Year 10 student River Hume presented the Acknowledgement of Country before today’s matches commenced, setting a meaningful tone for the day.

Lunchtime? Library time! 📚

The Newhaven College Library is more than a place to borrow a great book; it’s a welcoming hub of creativity, connection and fun!

During lunchtime, students can escape the cold and choose their own adventure. Settle in with a favourite book, get creative with colouring, build something amazing with Lego, challenge a friend to a game of chess or Connect 4 or catch up on homework.

With fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, magazines and plenty of new titles to discover, there’s something for every reader from Prep to Year 12.

Our wonderful Librarians, Janine Butera and Jo Foster, are always on hand to help students find the perfect activity, book or new favourite read.

Come in, get cosy and make the most of lunchtime in the Library!

The Ultimate Night of Fun & Trivia!

Our School Trivia Night was a huge success, coming close to a sell-out and, most importantly, raising valuable funds for the PFA to put straight back into our school community.

The Teachers and Leadership proved why they are in the top job, taking the win and walking away with some amazing prizes generously donated by the wonderful local businesses tagged in this post.

A huge thank you to Jacob Fry for his incredibly entertaining hosting, Hayley Brebner for collecting and coordinating all the fabulous prize goodies, and all of the businesses who generously donated raffle prizes and helped make the night such a success.

Thank you also to our Year 12 students for their assistance with setting up, Graze Farm to Plate for the delicious grazing boards, and Bazaar Pizza in Cowes for the pizzas that kept everyone fuelled throughout the night.

It was a brilliant evening filled with plenty of laughs, friendly competition and great company. Thank you to everyone who came along, supported the event and helped make it happen - we can’t wait to do it all again in the near future!

Dressed to Impress: Year 11 Ball

Saturday night was one to remember as our Year 11 students and their parents and guardians came together at Silverwater Resort for a spectacular Year 11 Ball.

Our students looked incredible and certainly brought the glamour! With DJ David Manning behind the decks, the dance floor was soon packed, with everyone dancing the night away.

A big shoutout to our leadership team for joining the celebrations, and a special thank you to Hannah Blake for organising such a fantastic event.

📸 Stay tuned - next week’s newsletter will be packed with plenty more photos from the night!
