Can I be honest for a second?
Creating content as a tutoring business is way harder than people think.
If you run a café, you can film coffee. If you’re a gym, you can film workouts. If you’re a clothing brand, you can show off new outfits.
But education?
Some days it feels like we’re trying to make grammar, essay writing and algebra exciting without turning it into clickbait or losing what actually matters.
We want our content to be helpful, relatable and maybe even make you laugh… but we also want to stay professional. That’s a balance we’re constantly trying to get right.
Behind every 30-second video is probably an hour of brainstorming, filming, editing and deleting ideas because they just didn’t feel right.
The reality is, we’re still learning too.
I’m still a full-time high school English teacher, and alongside that we’re building In Focus Learning one student, one family and one lesson at a time. There isn’t a big marketing team behind us—just a genuine passion for helping students grow and trying to share that journey online in a way people actually want to watch.
Some videos flop.
Some unexpectedly take off.
But we’ll keep showing up anyway.
Because if even one student gains confidence, one parent finds reassurance, or one teacher has a laugh and thinks, “Yep, that’s relatable,” then it’s worth it.
So if you’ve ever wondered why educational content can be difficult to create… this is why.
We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and we’re even more excited about where we’re heading.
If you’ve got an idea for content you’d actually like to see from a tutoring business, let me know below. Chances are, it’ll probably become our next video. 👇
