Have you ever wondered what electromagnetism sounds like? Here's a video that shows us.
The theremin was invented in the 1920s, and it got used in a lot of 1950s B-grade sci-fi movies. The instrument was part of a futuristic movement where music would become ever more free-form. It came to be featured in some really important pieces by composers such as the French pianist/organist Olivier Messiaen (who was a virtuoso on the theremin as well!), and the Russian pianist and musical futurologist, Alexander Scriabin.
