Crawl like the Hungry Caterpillar, creep like the little brown mouse through the deep dark wood, dance like Gerald the Giraffe and stomp like Elmer the elephant to Mittagong Community Playgroup! One of our favourite times of the year is Book Week and we have a brilliant chapter to share with you ... Come and explore the Symphony of Stories over a 3-week program.

Starting Monday, 24th August, we will be celebrating children's literature with bookish play experiences. To enhance the festivities, our friends at Wingecarribee Libraries are visiting us on Monday, 31st August with the mobile library.

Be quick to book, places are getting snapped up quicker than a hungry piranha.

Did you miss us? We sure missed our community of play-loving attendees.

Noriko captured these videos just before Monday's session started today at 9:30am. The Science program looks great! It was wonderful to see so many happy returning faces and welcome new ones, too. We also had four families attend their first playgroup session after 'aging' out of New Cubs Club - the current format really fosters connections and a sense of belonging. What an inviting set-up filled with developmentally appropriate resources.

We are delighted to see the Mittagong Community Playgroup start a new semester of learning and play this week.

Today also marks the start of Early Learning Matters Week, a celebration of the wonderful impact early childhood education has on young children, their families and the wider community.

The Playgroup’s continued growth is a reflection of GAP’s research into the benefits of integrated models of early childhood education.

💥🔍🧪 Science! program 3/8 - 20/8 🧪🔍💥

Playgroup and New Cubs Club is due to re-commence from Monday, 3rd August. Our first program will operate for 3 weeks - Monday, 3/8 - 20/8. This 3-weekly program will be, Science! We welcome all STEM-lovers, budding paleontologists, colour enthusiasts and inquisitive minds. We trust that this program will starts term 3 with a bang 💥.

Why science? National Science Week is Monday, 17/8 - Friday, 21/8. Therefore, we have embraced this wider-community event within our playgroup program.
What to expect?

Schedule:
Monday

· Playgroup (birth – 6 years) 9:30am – 10:45am

· New Cubs Club (0-13 months) 11:15am – 12noon

Thursday

· Playgroup (birth – 6 years) 9:30am – 10:45am

· New Cubs Club (0-13 months) 11:15am – 12noon

Renwick Community Centre, Renwick Drive, Renwick | Meeting Room 2 & 3.

Bookings:

Our booking link is sent via email one week prior to the new program commencing. We kindly ask that you attend a Monday OR Thursday weekly (one session a week). To ensure equal access, we don’t offer termly bookings. We understand things happen and children get sick. To ensure someone else can utilise your spot, please cancel by 7:30am on the morning of your session. Likewise, if you’d like a last-minute position, always check the link after 7:30am.

If you are new to our community, please ensure you fill out the parental agreement and enrollment form at the sign in desk. Thank you in advance.

Play dough ... The open-ended sensory tool that gives so much scope for play, exploration and creativity.

During our 'Wheels' program, planes are taking flight and propellers are spinning. The aircraft are flying amongst the clouds and shaping the play dough with rolling pins and cutters.

The 'Wheels' program has arrived! A tiny glimpse of some of the zones. There are many opportunities for dramatic play, fine motor experiences, cutting, construction and exploration. Our educator facilitated program considers all play styles, ages and capabilities.

The 'Wheels' program is about to drive into Mittagong Community Playgroup and park until Monday, 15th June.

If you love cogs, pram tyres, car painting, tracks, pinwheels and things that spin, this program is for you.
Dates for the diary:
- Program | Monday, 18th May - Monday, 15th June
- Public holiday | Monday, 8th June - No playgroup
- 400th session | Thursday, 11th June - a few celebration additions
- Last session of the program before Winter break | Monday, 15th June
- Rough recommencement date - Beginning of August
