Up, up and away 🎈✈️🐦🫧

Our new program has taken flight and it is soaring!!! Noriko has planned a wonderful array of engaging experiences. The Monday team surely put together an inviting space. These photos are just a snippet of the hands-on and minds-on play experiences around the environment.

To tie in with Aussie Bird Count week, you will find many areas inspired by things that fly or go in the sky.

We are funded by the Fritz Family Foundation and operated by early childhood professionals in conjunction with Mittagong Preschool
The program emphasises age appropriate, play-based learning with a focus on community.

Cutting spaghetti ✂️

Developing fine-motor skills is a continual process that invites an array of experiences. Within our 'In the Kitchen program', children can snip coloured spaghetti. This activity involves sensory exploration, hand-eye coordination, actioning scissors and is a wonderful play-based opportunity. This low-pressure cutting experience is approachable for all ability levels as there is no set way to snip and the pasta is lovely and soft. For our little bubs, they will enjoy the tactile element.

New program | In the Kitchen

Oh what fun we'll have this next rotation... "All the kids singin' in the kitchen, bangin' on the pots and pans"!


Our new program is about to commence! Important dates - please note we will break for 2 weeks of school holidays :

Week 1 - Monday, 14/9 & Thursday, 17/9

Week 2 - Monday, 21/9 & Thursday, 24/9

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS (26/10 - 11/10) - NO PLAYGROUP OR NEW CUBS CLUB

Week 3 - Monday, 12/10 & Thursday, 15/10

This program will include a little extra messy/sensory play, therefore you might like to bring a change of clothes. The weather is warming up, so please remember sunscreen and a hat.

Our playgroup and New Cubs Club is facilitated by Early Childhood Professionals in partnership with Mittagong Preschool and proudly funded by the Fritz Family Foundation. Our sessions are free and bookings are essential.

Our wonderful playgroup is powered by a committed team of professionals with a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. Each week they facilitate the sessions with flare! Our model excels due to the ongoing partnership with Mittagong Preschool and the breadth of play-based pedagogy they share.

Visit from the new, Wingecarribee Libraries Mobile Library 📚

Today at Playgroup and New Cubs Club we hosted the Mobile Library, the best way to celebrate children's literature during Book Week. This brand new van was only launched last week - how lucky are we?! 💫 The families had the opportunity to borrow, read new titles, join the library, explore the new features and learn more about the libraries wonderful programs such as rhyme time and duplo.

Playdough!

We love playdough! It is a weekly staple for so many reasons:
- open-ended
- sensory and tactile
- opportunities for dramatic play
- exploring pattern making
- fine-motor strengthening
- promotes turn-taking
- a hub to converse with others

A few families have asked for our dough recipe:
Flour 3 1/2 cups
Salt 1/2 cup
Cream of tartar 2 tbs
Oil 1/2 cup
Boiling hot water 2 cups

Mix the dry ingredients together, then add the oil and hot water. If adding colour, mix food colouring into the hot water first. Knead well until the mixture is smooth

Crawl like the Hungry Caterpillar, creep like the little brown mouse through the deep dark wood, dance like Gerald the Giraffe and stomp like Elmer the elephant to Mittagong Community Playgroup! One of our favourite times of the year is Book Week and we have a brilliant chapter to share with you ... Come and explore the Symphony of Stories over a 3-week program.

Starting Monday, 24th August, we will be celebrating children's literature with bookish play experiences. To enhance the festivities, our friends at Wingecarribee Libraries are visiting us on Monday, 31st August with the mobile library.

Be quick to book, places are getting snapped up quicker than a hungry piranha.
