COLOURING AND PAINTING 🎨
Mr Ward's Year 7 Visual Art students have been learning about colour, and how primary colours are used to create secondary and tertiary colours. They have experimented with tints, shades, and tones to change colour, and have painted swatches showing this gradient. They have also understood the concept of complementary and analogous colours, and how when used together, can create a specific mood or feeling.

Students will now put all this skill-building to good use when they paint their own monochromatic abstract paintings in Week 3.

CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE ⭐
Today we held our final Awards Ceremony for the year. Alongside recognising students who achieved Effort, Academic and Merit Awards, we also celebrated the rich opportunities and achievements our students participated in last term, including the France Study Tour, the State French Poetry Recital Competition (second place), the SAFTAgram French Video Competition (first place), and the Royal Adelaide Show.

We also proudly recognised staff members who have reached significant service milestones at Renmark High School:

Something pretty special is coming to Renmark! 💗

On Thursday 29 October, Renmark Primary School and Renmark High School are coming together to host our very first GEM Festival, celebrating Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness.

YEAR 12 DESIGN TECHNOLOGY 🛠️
At the end of last term, our Renmark High School Stage 2 Design Technology and Engineering students took part in an excursion to Dix Engineering as part of their SACE external assessment.

Students are required to investigate, analyse and test the properties and functional characteristics of materials relevant to their design solutions. During this visit, they had the valuable opportunity to use a hydraulic press to test the strength of welds and joint types, as well as different material types, helping them collect authentic data to support their assessment work. Students were also provided with valuable advice and insights from industry professionals, further strengthening their understanding of materials, testing processes and design considerations.

A big thank you to Dix Engineering for their generosity, expertise and support of student learning through this real-world experience.

France Study Tour - ANZAC Pilgrimage 🇫🇷🇦🇺
Our students spent a full day in Villers-Bretonneux and the surrounding Somme region, discovering the stories of Australians on the Western Front and the connections to Renmark and their own communities.

Beginning with an immersive experience at the Sir John Monash Centre, students gained an insight into the lives of Australians who served, from leaving home to life in the trenches.

At Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery and Adelaide Cemetery, students shared the stories of soldiers they had researched from Renmark, Naracoorte, Jamestown, Kingscote and Adelaide, standing beside their graves or commemorated names.

We also visited Victoria School and its Franco-Australian Museum before concluding at Mouquet Farm, which has strong ties to Renmark and other South Australian towns, to remember the many Australians who fought and died there. A powerful day of remembrance, connecting students with the lives and sacrifices of men from their own communities.

AWARDS CEREMONY 🌟
Join us for our upcoming Awards Ceremony at the Chaffey Theatre on Friday 16 October from 11.10am to 12.00pm, where we’ll be celebrating the outstanding achievements of our students from Term 3, 2026.

Students receiving an academic award have been invited via their report card from last term and through EdSmart.

Awards will be presented for Academic Excellence and Effort, and students who achieved all A grades will receive a Merit Award. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the hard work and success of our students!

POSTCARDS FROM FRANCE 🇫🇷✉
Students on the France Study Tour have settled into their host families, attending French classes and taking part in a range of exciting activities and excursions.

A day trip to the world-famous Mont-Saint-Michel was a definite highlight, made even more memorable by the unexpected opportunity to witness the annual parachutists and veterans’ parade and display - we just happened to be there at the right time! Students have also explored the beautiful city of Rouen, including the iconic Gros-Horloge, climbing to the summit for stunning views across the city.

A guided tour of the Musée des Beaux-Arts gave students valuable insight into the importance of art history within French culture, while some students also enjoyed participating in a French pottery class, producing some fabulous designs.

Another special experience was learning the art of macaron making with an expert in the field. As an iconic staple of any French patisserie, macarons were a wonderful addition to the tour, and with the entire workshop conducted in French, students carefully followed instructions to create a variety of beautiful final products. Merci, Arnaud!

Most importantly, we also had the joy of celebrating a 16th birthday in France -Joyeux anniversaire, Levi!

SUPPORTIVE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ✨
As we move through the school holidays, it is important to continue prioritising mental health and wellbeing.

While the break can be a valuable time to rest and recharge, changes to routine can also be challenging for some young people and families. Simple strategies such as maintaining routines, getting enough sleep, spending time outdoors, staying connected with others and checking in regularly can make a positive difference.

If additional support is needed, please refer to the helpful services listed below.

We wish all students and families a safe and positive remainder of the holiday break.

POSTCARDS FROM FRANCE 🇫🇷✉
The France Study Tour have enjoyed a thrilling weekend in Paris!

After arriving at Charles de Gaulle Airport and settling into accommodation in the Marais District, students quickly got the hang of navigating the Paris Métro. Practicing their French in a boulangerie-pâtisserie, students ordered baguettes and pastries before heading to the Eiffel Tower!
That evening, they saw Paris from a different perspective on a Bateaux Mouches cruise along the Seine, passing the city’s famous monuments as they lit up for the night. ✨

On Sunday morning, it was breakfast in a Parisian bistro before heading to the Louvre Museum for a quick selfie visit with Mona Lisa! It was then time to catch the train to Rouen, where the students will spend the next three weeks studying French and experiencing life in Normandy.
