Emerging neuroscience warns that bingeing on short-form videos—like Reels, TikToks, or Shorts—can damage brain function more than alcohol. These bite-sized clips overstimulate the brain’s reward pathways, reducing attention span, weakening memory retention, and increasing impulsive behavior. Studies from China’s academic institutions report effects up to five times more harmful than alcohol, especially in critical areas like the prefrontal cortex. The rapid context-switching and constant novelty make deep focus harder, erode self-control, and elevate dopamine-driven addiction. While not chemically equivalent to alcohol, these effects raise alarm. Balancing screen time thoughtfully and encouraging healthier content habits is crucial for protecting cognitive health.

A number of students have already been submitted for exams in 2021, and it’s looking like a busy year for the students of Musica Vita Studio.

While 2020 certainly put us all through our paces, challenging how we conduct our day to day lives, Musica Vita Studio is proud to have continued to keep students engaged with their music, even if that meant online lessons.
I would personally like to thank and congratulate all parents and students who pushed on with music lessons despite the new challenges online learning has presented. Each and every student gave their lessons their best, and have made wonderful progress despite, or in spite of, the enormous disruptions of the last 12 months.
2021 appears likely to present us with similar challenges, but we are ready! And Musica Vita Studio will continue to offer lessons online when necessary, and face to face when safe to do so.
Remember, that in times of immense change, when we may feel most like withdrawing from the chaos and discomfort around us, having a constant, stable and consistent interest or outlet can help us feel centered again.
Let music help ground you through difficult times 🎶

A big congratulations to Jordan, for recently being awarded the Directors Choice Award at Alexandra Hills State High School.
