We are welcoming back the Athlete Development Program to Fernbrooke State School for students in years 4-6. ADP is an innovative program which caters for talented students across grades 4-6 across all sporting disciplines. The program aims to develop young sportspeople in terms of their:
✅sporting skills
✅fitness
✅enthusiasm towards sport and school
✅academic work, through sport
✅sportsmanship and school citizenship
The program will offer limited positions to students for term 4. Applications can be collected by students in front of the PE office and must be returned fully completed by Thursday the 3rd of September. 🎓 Year 6 – High School Enrolment for 2027

Year 6 families are reminded that now is the time to begin the high school enrolment process for 2027.

Families are responsible for contacting their preferred high school and completing the required enrolment process. Redbank Plains State High School is our local feeder high school.

If you are considering another high school, please contact the school directly, as eligibility criteria may apply.

✅ Early enrolment is important and helps high schools plan for student transition, classes, staffing and Year 7 programs.

💙 Weeks 8 PBL Focus – THINKER 💙

Our focus is: We notice how others feel and respond appropriately.

🏠 How you can help at home:

👀 Talk about feelings and the clues that show how someone might be feeling.
💭 Encourage empathy by asking, “How would you feel?”
🤝 Practise helpful responses such as checking in, offering help, giving space, apologising or using kind words.
❤️ Model noticing and responding respectfully to the feelings of others.

💙Senior School Update

A few important updates for our Fernbrooke families:

📚 Parent–Teacher Interviews: Interviews will be held on Monday 31 August. We encourage families to take this opportunity to connect with teachers, celebrate progress and discuss next steps in learning.

🏆 Gala Sports: Our teams have been achieving some fantastic results while demonstrating teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship. Best of luck to all teams competing in the finals this Friday!

📖 Book Week: Thank you to our students and families for making our Book Week Parade such a wonderful celebration. The costumes, enthusiasm and smiles made it a fantastic event!

🎓 Year 6 Transition: Year 6 families are reminded to return the High School Transition Survey and finalise secondary school enrolments as soon as possible to support a smooth transition into Year 7.

BINGO!
Congratulations to our classes who spun the Attendance Bingo Wheel this week. 6B won pizza party for the 2nd time this term! Showing up really does have its rewards.

📅 Pupil Free Day – Friday 4 September

A reminder that Friday 4 September is a Pupil Free Day at Fernbrooke State School. There will be no regular student attendance or teaching on this day.

Our staff will be participating in professional learning and planning.

Families who use Helping Hands OSHC are asked to contact the service directly regarding arrangements for the day.

📚 Years 3–6 Update

What a fantastic Book Week! A huge thank you to our families for supporting the parades and helping students bring their favourite book characters to life. The creativity was outstanding, and it was wonderful to see so many families join us to celebrate books and reading.

A few reminders for the weeks ahead:

👩‍🏫 Parent–Teacher Interviews: Monday 31 August after school. Please ensure you have booked a time with your child’s teacher.

🚗 Drop and Go: The front Drop and Go zone has a two-minute limit. Ipswich City Council officers have recently been issuing fines, so please be mindful of the parking restrictions.

📸 School Photos: Photos are now complete and will be distributed once they have been edited, printed and delivered by MSP Photography.

📅 Pupil-Free Day: Friday 4 September – there will be no school for students.

🐮 And finally, it was great to see so many Fernbrooke families at the Ekka—and apparently quite surprising for some students to spot Mr Hancock in the wild wearing farm clothes in the Animal Nursery! 😄

💙 Students Belonging at Fernbrooke – Being Heard

At Fernbrooke, we want every student to know that their voice matters.

Our staff continue to strengthen practices that give students meaningful opportunities to share their ideas, ask questions and know that adults genuinely listen and respond.

When students feel heard, they build trust, confidence, agency and a stronger sense of belonging. Encouragingly, feedback from our students shows these practices are already making a positive difference.

A big thank you to our staff for their continued commitment to ensuring every student feels valued, respected and heard at Fernbrooke. 💙

Our **Father’s Day Mystery Bags** are now available to purchase through **Munch Monitor!**

💙 **Prices range from $5–$15**, with a little something to suit every budget.

⚠️ **Mystery Bags are limited, so get your orders in early!**

**Please note:** As these are mystery bags, if you purchase multiple bags, **you may receive some of the same items in each bag.**

Mystery Bag orders will be **delivered to classrooms for collection on Tuesday**.

**YEARS 3 – 6**
Students can collect their Mystery Bags from the **Tuckshop** at either of the following times:

🕐 1:00pm–1:30pm

⭐ **Thursday – After School**
🕝 2:30pm–3:00pm
