Today we welcomed the Matala Navigators Mele and Kasi in the Kindy Room!

They will be visiting the Kindy Room on Tuesdays 11:00am–11:45am until 1 December 2026; so if you see them, say hello!

The Matala Navigators program promotes cultural connection, diversity and inclusion for young children through engaging play-based activities including songs, dance, art/crafts, storytelling, and language. This program aims to introduce children to various aspects of cultural heritage and foundational values of the Pacific Islands fostering a strong sense of community and identity.

They sang beautiful Island music and taught us new words in the Māori language, some Fijian, Cook Island Māori, Tongan and Samoan!

We hope to be working with them for many years to come; so everyone will get to benefit from their teachings 🎉

Queensland Child Protection Week @ Smart Start 2026 💚

What a great week of learning for Queensland Child Protection Week 🎉

On Monday we learnt about road safety 🚘🚦

On Tuesday we had the Dentist visit from National Dental Services Australia and learnt about self safety 🦷 🪥

On Wednesday we had the Firefighters from Queensland Fire Department visit us and talk about Fire Safety 🔥🚒

On Thursday we had the Police Officers from Queensland Police Service visit us and teach us how to stay safe👮🚔

On Friday we had Rackley Swimming Redbank Plains with Trev the Turtle visit us to teach us about water safety! 🐢 🌊

It is also Bravehearts Day and we have raised over $321 at this time to help them protect Children and support their vital work in the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse.

Keeping all of our Children as safe as we can, everywhere we can ❤️
