✨ Meet Kiah ✨

I am beyond thrilled to introduce Kiah, our newest teacher at Ready Wrens, who will be leading our Monday and Tuesday sessions.

Kiah is a highly experienced Prep teacher (and is still currently teaching in a Prep classroom three days a week), bringing a wealth of knowledge, passion, and expertise to our little nest 🪺

From the moment she stepped into the classroom, I was blown away. Kiah has an incredible ability to capture children’s interest and engagement almost instantly. Her warm, nurturing nature, beautiful singing voice, and genuine zest for life create a classroom environment that children are naturally drawn to.

In all honesty, I knew I wanted Kiah on our team from the moment I met her, and after watching her with our students this week, I couldn’t be more grateful that she said yes.

Our Ready Wrens kiddies absolutely adored their first week with her, and it was such a joy to see the connections she formed so quickly.

Please join me in giving Kiah a very warm Ready Wrens welcome. We are so lucky to have you, Kiah, and we can’t wait for all the wonderful learning, laughter, and memories that lie ahead. 🤍

This morning was one of THOSE mornings.

The rushed, overstimulated, “why-is-everything-taking-20-times-longer-than-it-should” kind 🫠

And I won’t lie, I lost my cool a few times!

And it was such a reminder to me of how deeply our little people feel us.

Not because we need to parent perfectly. But because children co-regulate through connection, safety and predictability.

A gentle reminder to myself tonight that calmer mornings don’t just help us... they help our children feel emotionally safe too ❤️‍🔥

Tomorrow, we try again!

Not all screen time is equal 🤍

If you need a guilt-free option while you cook dinner, survive sick days, or just need a quiet reset moment… the Julia Donaldson animations on ABC iView are one of my favourite “yes” screen times for preschoolers.

✨ rich vocabulary
✨ rhyming & phonological awareness
✨ storytelling & comprehension
✨ slower pacing
✨ low stimulation
✨ encourages a love of books & language

Think: The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, Zog 🧹🐉

Beautiful storytelling without the chaotic overstimulation so many kids’ shows rely on now.

Honestly… screen time your child’s teacher will probably thank you for 😅

Supermarket trips with a preschooler can feel like… a lot 🫠

but they’re actually one of the best places to build early numeracy.

The research is clear — young children learn maths most effectively through real-life, meaningful experiences, not worksheets.

So instead of rushing through the shop (or handing over snacks to survive it 😅), I slow it down just a little and bring them into it:

🔥 counting with purpose
🔥 comparing prices
🔥 estimating, sorting, problem solving
🔥 noticing numbers in the environment
🔥 using real language like “more”, “less”, “heavier”, “cheaper”

These are the foundations of numeracy — and they’re exactly what set children up to feel confident when they walk into a classroom.

No pressure.
No formal “teaching”.
Just everyday moments, done intentionally.

PSA: We do survive some trips with the bribe of a treat or yogi pouch for the shop so it’s all about balance 🤣
