1.1 We recognise that middle childhood is an important stage in a child's development which is distinct from early childhood and adolescence. We believe all school age children should have access, without bias or prejudice, t
o a quality program. Our program will provide supervised play and recreational activities in a safe and friendly environment which supports the individual developmental needs of each child.
• We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land - the Worimi people, and pay our respects to Elders both past and present and acknowledge their spiritual connection to our Country.
• We will ensure our program nurtures the development of life skills and complements children’s experiences, opportunities and relationships at school, at home and in the community.
• We will ensure the physical environment is safe, suitable, and provides a rich and diverse range of experiences that promote children’s learning and development.
• We will provide a quality service that meets the needs of the families and community, and meets the standards of the National Quality Framework.
• We will promote collaborative relationships with families to achieve quality outcomes for children and build community partnerships that are based on active communication, consultation and collaboration.
• We will ensure all Educators have the opportunity to develop professionally and comply with all requirements under the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.
• We will focus on relationships with children that are responsive and respectful and promote children’s sense of security, belonging and independence.
• We will encourage children to explore the environment and engage in play and learning experiences independently.
• We will ensure on special occasions where food and drink is provided it will be nutritious and adequate in quantity, and take into account dietary requirements appropriate to each child’s growth and development needs and any specific cultural, religious or health requirements.
• We will ensure that adequate health and hygiene practices and procedures for handling, preparing and storing food are implemented in accordance with Education and Care Services National Regulations.
• We will provide a safe, healthy, sustainable environment where Educators, children and families learn and share ideas about creating an environmentally friendly Education and Care Service.
• We will critically reflect on current practices, the philosophy, program, and the environment to provide optimum opportunities for children to learn and grow.
• We will use the program to promote the importance of play where children learn at their own pace through involvement, and are given opportunities to create, explore, experiment and to be active.
• We will provide the children with opportunities to choose and learn independently and create meaningful experiences.
• We promote inclusiveness and Australia’s multicultural society through educating and role modelling respect within our service program and environment. We will respect and include all cultural differences and similarities by supporting our school, community and families.
