Aquarium gravel is a wonderful resource for sensory experimentation, filling, scooping, pouring and exploring capacity, weight and movement.

In line with our environmental and sustainability values, we choose not to use food products in play. Instead, we look for thoughtful alternatives that offer rich sensory possibilities without using food as a disposable play material.

Small choices in the materials we offer can reflect much bigger values.

We love testing our bodies in interesting and challenging ways.

When children understand how their bodies can move, balance and take up space, they build confidence in their own capabilities. Climbing, stretching, balancing and navigating challenge supports children to assess risk, make decisions and develop trust in what their bodies can do.

Courage grows through opportunities to practise it.

The awe and beauty of light capture children's interest and ignite their imagination. Our youngest learners have been experimenting with light and shadow. These playful investigations boost observation and early scientific thinking as children predict, test and share what they notice.

Painting beyond the A4 white sheet is important. Here we are creating on lace curtains helping us re see and see anew our creations amongst the gaps. Creating windows that connect our art to the wider natural world. Creating beauty within a beautiful landscape.

Being barefoot is grounding. The sensory contact with nature lowers stress and supports children to feel relaxed.

Being barefoot in childhood has a positive impact to development as it supports spatial awareness, builds strength, improves posture, stimulates nerves and calms the body.

Our Preschool learners have been unpacking and exploring their natural world. Our educators have curated experiences encouraging investigation, collaboration and experimentation and becoming co-researches alongside the children. They have found lots of joy and excitement caring for their gardens and watching flowers grow! Rich discussions around how we care for nature and our plants happen whilst they crowd around to see new growth.
