Today our students had a fantastic time attending Where is the Green Sheep? at the West Gippsland Arts Centre.

The performance brought the much-loved children’s book to life through puppetry, music, movement and plenty of laughter. Students loved following along as the story searched high and low for the elusive Green Sheep, meeting all sorts of silly and colourful sheep along the way! The interactive nature of the show had students engaged from start to finish, with lots of smiles, laughter and excitement throughout the performance.

On the way, we also stopped to spend some time with our friends at Tanjil South Primary School. Students enjoyed chatting together, making connections and creating some fantastic chalk drawings.

Before heading back to school, we enjoyed lunch and a quick play at Civic Park, which was a great way to finish off a wonderful day full of creativity, imagination and fun!

A big thank you to the Erica & District Fire Brigade for visiting our school today and teaching our students all about fire safety. 🚒🔥

The session focused on staying safe around fires in the home, particularly during the colder winter months when wood heaters, fireplaces and other heating sources are being used more often. Students learnt important safety messages about smoke alarms, evacuation plans and what to do in an emergency — including “Get down low and go, go, go!” in the event of smoke and fire.

Students also took part in a whole-school fire drill, had the opportunity to use the fire hoses, and even got to hop aboard the fire truck — which was definitely a highlight of the day!

We really appreciate the time and effort the brigade volunteers put into educating and engaging our students in such an important topic. Thank you again for supporting our school and community.

A big thank you to Josh Griffiths for visiting our school yesterday afternoon and sharing his knowledge about the amazing platypus!

Josh is a Senior Wildlife Ecologist who has spent many years studying and working to protect platypus populations across Victoria and beyond. His passion for wildlife conservation and ability to share his knowledge made for an incredibly engaging session for our students.

Our students were completely engaged as they learned all about this unique Australian animal – from its habitat and behaviours to the challenges it faces in the wild.

A special thank you as well to Helen from the Mountain Rivers Landcare Group for organising this fantastic opportunity for our students.

We really appreciate you both taking the time to come and inspire our students. It was a wonderful learning experience and one we won’t forget anytime soon! Catchment Landcare Network and Rivers Landcare

We’ve had a really great few days at school learning about ANZAC Day. ❤️

Students have been exploring what ANZAC Day means through reading Anzac Ted, having some thoughtful chats, and writing their own reflections. It’s been fantastic to see the care and respect they’ve shown.

We also got busy in the kitchen making ANZAC biscuits – which were definitely a hit!

A highlight was connecting with Tanjil South Primary School, where students shared their ANZAC writing. It was great to see their confidence and pride in their work.

Students also worked together to create a commemorative wreath, which turned out beautifully.

We wrapped up the week with a special assembly, including a reflection written and read by Elyssa. We finished with The Last Post, the National Anthem, and The Rouse – a really special way to come together as a school.

Lest we forget. 🌺

What a fantastic way to finish Term 1 at Rawson Primary School! 🚀🐰

Our last day of term started with excitement as students watched a live rocket launch, sparking plenty of curiosity and wonder about space.

We then finished the day with some wonderful Family Easter Fun, with families joining us to celebrate together. There were plenty of smiles as students enjoyed games, prizes, and of course our Easter Egg Hut! 🍫🥚

It was a great way to celebrate the end of a busy term and spend some time together as a school community.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the afternoon so special. We wish all our families a safe and happy Easter break! 🌸
