Three podiums at the Knockout Badminton Series — Victoria, Series 3. 🏸

A weekend that says a lot about where our players are heading.

Lara Herbst — C Grade Women’s Singles Champion. 🥇
Top of the podium, and every bit of it earned.

James Dahni — C Grade Mixed Doubles Runner-Up. 🥈
Composure under pressure, exactly when it counted.

Fiona Le — B Grade Mixed Doubles Runner-Up. 🥈
Stepping up a grade and holding her own against tougher company.

This is what the work looks like when it shows up on court — not a good day, but the product of turning up, being coached properly, and competing with intent.
To Lara, Fiona and James: we’re proud of you. 👏🏽

And to anyone watching from the sidelines wondering if they could get there too — this is the pathway, and it starts with one session. 🏸

One of our High Performance athletes — 13 years old — working a multifeed set: smash, drive, follow, reset. Again. And again. 🏸

A year ago she was in our Rising Athletes program.
Today she’s drilling the patterns that define women’s doubles and mixed doubles at the top: the steep smash, the flat drive exchange, the follow-in to finish. 💥

This is where the work leads. Not in one perfect rep — in a hundred honest ones. ✨

Rising Athletes is where that road starts. High Performance is where our coaches take the players who are ready for it. 🏸

Full court net with Louisa Ma. The first drill is about arrival — split, push, racket head above the tape before the shuttle gets there. The second is about contact — a still racket face that’s set before impact and doesn’t move through it. 🏸

Late to the net means reaching. Reaching means lifting. Lifting means you’ve handed the rally over. But arriving early and then swinging at it costs you just as much.

Control and preparation aren’t two skills. They’re the same rep, half a second apart.

Louisa has represented Australia at the Uber Cup and Sudirman Cup — this is the standard our players train alongside. 🇦🇺

Before we coach a single rally, we prepare for the moments we hope never come. 💛

This week our coaching team completed accredited first aid and CPR certification — including child and infant response. It’s not a requirement we tick off. It’s part of what it means to be responsible for other people’s kids on our courts every week. ⛑️

When you hand your child over to us on a Saturday afternoon, you should know two things: there are qualified coaches on court and that they know exactly what to do in an emergency. 🫡

That’s the standard at Elite Athlete Academy 🏸

Watch the hands here. Relaxed grip, racket up early, no snatching at the shuttle. Nils isn’t reaching for the contact point, he’s letting it come to him and playing it soft off a still base. That’s what lets him reset and take the next one just as clean. 🏸

Panic at the net looks like tight forearms, a late racket, and a lift you didn’t want to play. Control looks boring. Boring is the goal. 🏆

We drill this every week — multi-shuttle, no scoring, just contact quality until soft becomes the default under pressure. 🏸

Week two. Over twenty kids on court. 🏸

There’s a specific sound a Saturday afternoon makes when it’s going well — shuttles, squeaky shoes, and a lot of yelling filled with with smiles and laughter. 🤭

What we love about Rookie Rally isn’t the numbers. It’s watching a kid who couldn’t get a serve over the net last week land three in a row and immediately throw a big smile.

Two coaches on court every session, so nobody gets lost in the crowd. Everyone gets seen. 👀

Saturdays 2–4pm at Stormers Ravenhall.
Ages 6–16.

Last Saturday’s Rookie Rally. Badminton🏸

From never holding a racquet or knowing the rules - the little ones learnt how to play, serve and hit rally after rally.

That’s the moment we’re actually chasing on a Saturday afternoon. Not perfect technique. Not a scoreline.

The point where a kid stops thinking about how to hold the racquet and just plays.

Whilst the older kids competed in intense and competitive singles matches.💥

With two coaches on court every session, we get to catch those moments as they happen — and build on them the following week.

Ages 6–16. Saturdays, 2–4pm.
Beginners genuinely welcome. 🤗
