🎶✨ What a week for the Travellers’ Beat Festival!✨🎶

What a fantastic week of music, dance and celebration! We are incredibly proud of our NHS Beat Choir and our wonderful dancers who delivered outstanding performances throughout the week. 🎤💃🕺

It was fantastic to see our talented Year 8 student Victoria feature as a soloist this year, while Year 9 students Levi and Marcos took to the orchestral pit as part of Apogee, and Year 9 student Oscar performed with Vocal Uprising. 🌟

We were also incredibly proud to see a long list of NHS alumni return to the Beat Festival stage, including Angus, Zara, Elyssia, Artneo, Tegan and Marlah, who all performed throughout the week. What an amazing testament to the incredible talent that continues to grow from our school community! ❤️💙

A huge congratulations to all of our students, alumni, staff and everyone involved in making this week such a memorable celebration of music and the performing arts.

We are so proud of you all! 🎶🌟

In Society and Culture, students have been learning about Brazil and its favelas.
They have learned about life in the favelas and how that compares to life in Australia.
Students have studied perceptions of Brazilians, tourist expectations versus the reality of living in the favelas.
As part of their group project, students are researching about life in various favelas. They are collaboratively creating elements of the favela that we have covered in class.
Next week they will be presenting what each aspect represents and how the elements all link together.

Each week in Homeroom, we explore a different character strength to help build positive habits and a strong school culture. This week, our focus is Humour. Our student leaders have been guiding discussions around the difference between humour that brings people together and humour that can be hurtful. Through activities and conversations, students are learning that while laughter is powerful, it should never come at the expense of others. A key message we’re reinforcing is: “If everyone isn’t laughing, it might not be funny.” By encouraging kindness, empathy, and awareness, we are helping students understand how to use humour in a respectful and inclusive way.

Nightcliff High School celebrated Book Week in style! 📚✨ Our school was overrun with book characters from a wide variety of stories, with students and staff showcasing some truly impressive costumes and clever interpretations.

A huge thank you to Bookshop Darwin for generously donating a gift voucher for our winner, Lacey, who brought Katniss from The Hunger Games to life so impressively!

Next time you’re in Smith Street Mall, be sure to check out Bookshop Darwin — they’ve just received some beautiful new editions of the classics, published by Penguin.

Year 8 Academic Class of Excellence (ACE) | Geography in Action! 🌏

Today, 8ACE took their Year 8 Geography learning beyond the classroom at Nightcliff Jetty!

Students investigated landforms and landscapes, exploring how natural processes and human activities shape and change our coastline, including the management strategies used or needed to protect and preserve coastal environments. 🌊

A great opportunity to observe, question, collaborate and connect classroom learning with the real world.

⭐ Curious minds. Real-world learning. Striving for excellence.
