Today is R U Okay Day. As we continue to de-stigmatise the conversation around mental health this year’s theme, ‘Are they really ok? Ask them today', invites students to check in with others as we continue to study from home. As another book week draws to a close, we acknowledge that this year’s virtual festivities may have looked very different from years gone past… While resonating with the event’s theme “Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds”, we witnessed students re-imagine the ways in which we may celebrate the world of literature, whilst participating in parades in the online space. August the 12th marks the annual celebration of International Youth Day. This day aims to highlight the achievements of young people and the contributions youth have made to our society. This year’s theme focuses on the desire to address food security, and further, environmental sustainability. Youth have a powerful role to play in enacting change and we certainly believe in their abilities to pursue worldly goals. Whilst studying and working from home, we may find ourselves becoming increasingly sedentary. In the following article, experts advise of how we can incorporate active movement into our daily routine. Taking a quick walk, setting a timer to move about or standing up whilst working are all simple tips to encourage us to increase our mobility wherever possible.
Six tips to build more movement into your day Most people don’t move enough. The trick is to do what you can whenever you can, even if it’s just standing up more than once an hour and walking a bit.
