Last term, Year 11 Legal Studies students from both classes had the opportunity to go to the Downing Centre to hear criminal and civil cases. They also met a Judge who talked to them about the Justice System and opportunities in law. They were able to experience real cases and decisions. In addition to this, five students were given the opportunity to attend the Young Justice Conference at Western Sydney University. Congratulations to Safiyah, Ahana, Linda, Unnati and Samantha (pictured) who were selected to participate in workshops and listened to the President of the Law Society and the Chief Justice of NSW talk about the legal system. 🦈📱2024 GITI Shark Tank📱🦈
We are thrilled to report the resounding success of our fourth annual Shark Tank Presentation, which took place on Wednesday, 5th June. This event, a culmination of creativity, innovation, and collaboration, showcased the remarkable talents and ingenuity of our young minds.
This year, the spotlight was on the top six projects from the Year 7, 2023 cohort of Girls Inspired to Innovate (GITI) programme.

The challenge? Designing mobile apps to address various issues affecting Year 7 students transitioning into high school, such as organisation, navigating new environments, and building and maintaining friendships.
Our finalists, Frankie, Lam Lam, Stacey, Georgie, Mia, and Eve of Year 8, left us in awe with their highly innovative app concepts, stellar visual designs, and impressive presentation skills. Their dedication and hard work were evident as they presented their ideas to the upcoming Year 7 cohort, who are poised to embark on this exciting project.

An honourable mention to our winner of the ‘Most Innovative App’ which was Lam Lam and her app ‘Luna’. Congratulations also to Georgie who won ‘Most Outstanding Presentation’. These students will be receiving their prize in the coming weeks.

Our panel of esteemed judges, including Dr. Malgorzata Lagizs from UNSW, UX/UI designer Miranda Rector, and our student judge 'Shark,' (Unatti, Year 11) who provided invaluable feedback and guidance. Special commendation goes to our Shark, whose infectious energy, dance moves, and 'fintastic' feedback left a lasting impression on us all.

We are immensely proud to witness the growth of our students as they embrace challenges, acquire new skills, and build their confidence through initiatives like these.

Thanks you to the GITI staff for facilitating this program and cultivating such success with all students. Thank you to Ms. Hall (Relieving HT Creative Arts) for her organisation of the event and our staff, whose unwavering support continues to fuel the success of this programme and event.

Thank you to all the students, judges and staff who took the time to attend this year's Shark Tank Presentation a truly memorable and inspiring experience. Here's to many more years of innovation, creativity, and excellence!

💛 Koojay Corroboree 💛
Today, our students had the incredible opportunity to attend a Koojay Coroboree as part of National Reconciliation Week. We gathered at Coogee Beach to witness the sands of Coogee Beach come to life with powerful performances by Aboriginal Dancers. The event featured a captivating blend of traditional and contemporary dance, music, and storytelling, offering a profound connection to the Dreaming.

This week is National Reconciliation Week, it is a time for our school community to learn more about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements. This year's theme, Now More Than Ever, reminded us of the ongoing fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It called each of us to contribute to a nation strengthened by respectful relationships.

Thank you to the students and staff who attended. Next week we will be holding our annual Reconciliation Week Assembly, We invite parents, caregivers and our broader school community to join us in the MPC next Friday 7th at 10am. We hope to see you there!
