📢 Coming Soon: Yoga & Cancer Workshop for Yoga Teachers and Yoga Therapists

We are planning a special workshop on yoga and cancer. It's designed specifically for yoga teachers and yoga therapists who want to feel more confident and prepared when working with people going through cancer.

Working with students and clients going through cancer is complex and challenging and an area that is in demand.

Almost one million Australians have been diagnosed with cancer in the 10 years to 2025.

This workshop will be practical, and informed by yoga therapy educators who have decades of clinical experience working with cancer patients across hospital and therapeutic settings -

- Natasha Zajc-Dalcourt, former General Practitioner and palliative care authority,
- Liz Williams, medical trainer and
- Sal Flynn, counselling and psychotherapy supervisor.

Be the first to hear when registrations open, join the waitlist https://yogatherapyinstitute.com.au/yoga-and-cancer-training-waitlist/

Does this sound familiar?

Teaching multiple classes. Doing more training. Busy every single day. And yet not really getting anywhere new.

The work feels repetitive. The students who need the most help are still the ones you feel least equipped to serve.

This is the professional treadmill. And more yoga teachers are on it than you'd think.

The treadmill is seductive because it feels like progress. But when the skills you're building don't change how you work – you're not progressing. You're just staying busy.

There is a way off.

This is my last post about The Great Yoga Teacher Myth special report and I want to end it the same way I started it.

With honesty.

If you have been teaching yoga for a while, you already know the uncomfortable truth. You can deliver a great class. You can hold a steady room. You can cue safely. And you can still walk out feeling like you barely scratched the surface of what yoga can actually offer and what your students actually need.

That feeling is not a sign that you are not good enough. It is a sign that you are ready for the next level.

The Great Yoga Teacher Myth is still available to download - completely free. https://yogatherapyinstitute.com.au/report/the-great-yoga-teacher-myth/

And if you've been sitting on the fence about booking a Future-Proof Your Yoga Career - A Free 30-Minute Call - this is your last reminder.

Not because the opportunity disappears after today. But because every week you wait is another week of teaching without the skills, the confidence, and the career you are genuinely capable of.

You became a yoga teacher because you wanted to make a difference. You just need the right path forward.

I hope we get to be part of it.

After 25 years working with yoga teachers, I keep hearing the same thing.

"I've done so much training. I still don't feel confident working with students who have injuries or complex health needs."

This is not your fault because most yoga teacher training was designed to teach healthy students in a group setting. It was never designed for one to one work, clinical settings, or the kind of deep individual work that yoga is truly capable of.

There is a very specific way to fix this issue that many yoga teachers face.

Margie Hellman has been a yoga therapist since 2012.

She has worked in a clinical psychology practice. Contributed to PhD research project on yoga and mental health and research on yoga and lymphedema. Worked at the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse Cancer Hospital for over ten years. And she currently works at the National Institute of Complementary Medicine with clients experiencing chronic pain and cancer.

She is in her sixties. And this is what she says about her work -

"I feel really blessed to have the work that I do as a yoga therapist because it's continually interesting and I'm always learning. I never feel bored."

"I can see myself going on and on working as a yoga therapist and I don't feel like I need to stop at any time in the future."

This is what a sustainable yoga career looks like.

The response to The Great Yoga Teacher Myth has been extraordinary.

One Yoga teacher shared with me that it is a thoughtful piece and you clearly understand the challenges many yoga teachers face. The parts about burnout, feeling underprepared with complex students, and the shift toward yoga therapy are particularly compelling and relatable.

If you haven't downloaded it yet - it's not too late. It's still completely free.
