Good morning, I hope that you are looking forward to a wonderful year ahead! We have some exciting additions to our Learning Community activities this year including a book club and a travel project, plus some great guest speakers. At our Gympie venue on the opposite Thursdays we are introducing hands-on skills for the older children such as carpentry, mechanics, sewing and crochet. Simon and Mick will be running these groups and Bunnings will also be coming along in March to help with a project. I would also like to start a singing group if any of the children are interested. Some girlfriends and I formed a singing group when I first started going to church at age 15 and I have been singing ever since! Group singing has many great benefits such as building confidence and self-esteem, learning about beat and rhythm, developing a healthy vocal system, being able to express yourself, enhancing neurological functioning and just the sheer joy of singing great songs. We will have several new families involved this year which will be great, while we will be saying goodbye to Hannah and her children for the next six months as they head off on a driving adventure around Queensland. I am hoping that they can keep us updated with where they are and highlights of their trip.

Last year we had a wonderful camp at the Aldershot Scout Campgrounds just north of Gympie and I am hoping that we can organise another one in May this year. If you have any ideas of activities that we can provide, please let me know.

Kerry will again be the team leader on Tuesdays starting on Tuesday 29 January and is needing parents to volunteer once a month so please let her know when you can assist. We would love to see you in Gympie from 10-12 on Thursday 31 January at the All Abilities Playground at the Duckponds finishing with a bbq lunch. Kristina from I Fly on the Sunshine Coast will be helping the children learn how to make a parachute and what makes them fly. If you could let me know if you will be attending that would be great to help with catering purposes. I look forward to seeing you then!

If you are planning to come along to the Saturday movie night from 5-8 at the Rainbow Beach Community Centre, you can have your photo taken with a real life maremma sheepdog, the hero of our featured movie Oddball! Food is available from 5 with the movie starting at 6pm. Bring along your own chair or beanbag, sit back and enjoy a great Australian movie featuring Shane Jacobson of 'Kenny the dunnyman' fame. All profits will provide activities for homeschool families who are part of the Rainbow Beach Learning Community.

Good morning thank you to everyone who came along to our recent Bush Dance and helped make it such a great evening. Thank you to those who helped set up, cook, clean up, serve or donate a prize for the raffle - it is great to be part of a wonderful team of people who are active in providing the best for their children and their community. Our next fundraising event on Saturday 11 November will be to host the Community Centre's Coolaflix movie which will be 'Oddball' a wonderful family movie filmed in Victoria based on a true story about a maremma dog who saved a penguin colony. We hope to see you there!

Hi everyone - I hope that you are having a wonderful Easter break! We are up at Gladstone for the week and the weather has been amazing. To those who came along to the Sandcastle Competition last Wednesday, thank you for your support and being part of a great morning. Special thanks to Jed, Sherry, Bec and her boys and Hannah for your help on the day. We raised around $300 for the Learning Community. Here is a photo of Arron creating his turtle masterpiece. Congratulations to Ziggy and his team who won the People's Choice Award with their Octopuses' Garden.

Join us for a wonderful morning of fun, fresh air and creativity at the Rainbow Beach Sandcastle Competition on Wednesday 5 April with registration from 8.30am. Categories are: the most outstanding sandcastle or sand building, the most lifelike animal or fish and an open division where the teams can create anything they want. There will also be a People’s Choice Award where onlookers can vote for their favourite sand creation.

Hi everyone, it's a great time to get out in the garden after the rain. Tina and Adrian have got mulch hay for sale this weekend at $10 a bale at 25 Rumbalara Avenue to raise funds for the Learning Community. Please contact Tina on 0409 631 127 if you would like to buy a bale or two. If you don't have the means to pick them up, Tina is happy to deliver them this afternoon or you can grab some tomorrow. What a cute photo!
