🌟 Early Childhood Educators' Day – Wednesday 2 September 🌟

Next Wednesday we celebrate Early Childhood Educators' Day, a special day dedicated to recognising and thanking the incredible educators who play such an important role in supporting our children's learning, development and wellbeing.

To show our appreciation, our educators will be treated to coffee and some delicious treats to enjoy during morning tea with the children, thanks to the generous donations from Castle Mountain Zeolites, Carmyle Veterinary Services, and the Jury family. Thank you for helping us celebrate our amazing team!

💛 Help us create an Appreciation Wall! 💛

We would love families to join us in showing our educators just how valued they are. Children and families are invited to create:

Cards
Drawings
Notes
Photos
Any other special messages of appreciation

These can be brought in any time this week or next week and added to our Appreciation Wall for our educators to enjoy.

Our educators give so much to our children and community each day, and we'd love to fill the wall with messages that remind them how much they are appreciated.

Thank you for helping us celebrate the wonderful team at QPK!

🚜🌾 Quirindi Show Canteen Fundraiser – We Need Your Help! 🌾🚜

The 125th Quirindi Spring Show is coming up on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September, and QPK has been given the exciting opportunity to run the main canteen once again!

Last year was one of our biggest fundraisers, and we’re hoping to make this year even better. Every dollar raised goes straight back into our community-based, not-for-profit preschool, helping us provide wonderful opportunities, resources and learning environments for our children.

💛 How can you help?

* Volunteer for an hour (or more!) at the canteen
* Donate soft drink cans, 600ml waters, juice poppers, lollies or chocolate bars
* Spread the word to family and friends

We need helpers:
📅 Saturday 12th September – from 6:00am
📅 Sunday 13th September – from 9:30am

📝 The roster is now printed and available in the sign-in area at preschool. You can also comment on this post, send us a message or give us a call and we’ll pop your name down.

A huge thank you to Ash Smith for the incredible amount of planning and preparation already going into this fundraiser, and to everyone who has already signed up or donated items. Your support means so much.

Coffee Order- Caramel Capp

Favourite part of the preschool day-
My favourite part of the preschool day is when everyone has settled in and the beauty of play begins to unfold. As children navigate the who, what, when, where and how of their play, I'm reminded just how competent and capable they are. It's in these moments that I see play for what it truly is—the place where children's most meaningful learning is happening.

What animal would I be- Butterfly 🦋

Travel- All the hidden beauties of Australia. To much time spent watching travel YouTube channels with hubby

Walk out song- Anything p!nk

Least Favourite activity at preschool- Anytime there's the "v" word 🤢

What made you want to become an educator💕

I became an educator because I believe every child deserves to experience the wonder of childhood in a safe, predictable and nurturing environment. I love being part of the village that supports children and families, especially when that village can be hard to find.

What made you want to become an educator?
I’ve always felt very connected to children and after studying and working in the industry I knew I wanted to pursue childcare, seeing children hit those milestones and grow into their own little people feels so rewarding and I love seeing preschool become a place where children feel safe and cared for.

Coffee order - Caramel Cappuccino

What’s your favourite part of the preschool day? Anytime we get to converse and explore ideas led by the children.

What animal would you be? Chimpanzee (according to my partner) 🙃

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? Santorini, Greece 🏝️

What would your walk out song be? Not like us - Kendrick Lamar

Least favourite activity at school? Any kind of messy play 🤢

What made you want to become an educator?

I got straight into ECE after highschool and fell in love, spending time with children and learning alongside them is a privilege. Seeing children accomplish there goals and reach milestones is an indescribable feeling, and knowing your helping them achieve them is something else. After being in childcare for over 7 years now I’ve been able to care for children from their first day to their last, the only thing I don’t love about preschool is only getting to see them grow and learn for 1-2 years.

Rina 🎨

You often find her close to the messy play! Rina is in our Goanna room.

Coffee order:
Cold brew coffee on skim milk no sweetener or cappuccino on skim.

What’s your favourite part of the preschool day?
Any moment that I get to more deeply explore children’s ideas with them. I love when they come out with big contemplative questions that we can explore together. And I love when I get to introduce them to new ideas and concepts that they haven’t explored before.
It’s really special when I have been supporting a child to grow a new skill and then it just ‘clicks’ and all of a sudden, they can do it all on their own or with less support.

What animal would you be?
A cat- full of attitude, I get fed and then can sleep and laze in the sun all day.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
New Zealand. In summer. (I don’t want to get too cold). I’ve seen lots of beautiful places around the world but New Zealand would be where I went to next if I knew it was my last trip.

What would your walk out song be?
‘He’s a Pirate’ (Hans Zimmerman I think)
Or ‘Waka Waka’ by Shakira

Least favourite activity at school?
Maths. Although, I often tuned out and read a book when I could. So maybe it was one of my favourites….?

What made you want to become an educator?
I grew up in a family day care home. My granny was also a family day care educator and my aunty was my preschool teacher. I began babysitting in early high school. So I’ve always been surrounded by children and by nurturing adults.
I realised pretty early in life that not everyone is lucky enough to have the same home environments as I did and for some children, being in care is the chance they get to have a calm, happy and safe place where they can be a child. I want to be able to offer that love and safety to all children.
Also, I love that each child, even from a baby, has their own little precious personality and it’s so fun to offer them new ideas and discoveries that challenge what they already know about their world.
The world is a magical place full of wonders to explore.

📣 Pie order Delivery Day - Tomorrow!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our pie fundraiser by purchasing pies. It was a fantastic success, and we truly appreciate your support!

Our pies will be delivered at 10:00 am tomorrow, and we are still desperately looking for a few more volunteers to help us sort the orders. If you're available from 10:00 am and have an hour or so to spare, we'd be incredibly grateful for your help.

Once all the orders have been sorted, we'll post an update on OWNA and Facebook to let everyone know that pies are ready for collection.

As we have very limited cold storage, please collect your order as soon as possible after the collection notice is posted. If you're unable to come straight away, you're welcome to drop off a clearly labelled esky or insulated cooler bag for us to store your order in until you can collect it.

Thank you again for your amazing support—we couldn't do it without our wonderful community! 🥧💙

✨Introducing our amazing Assistant Director!✨

Emi or Emily🤙🏽

Coffee order ☕️ - Black coffee

What’s your favourite part of the preschool day? I love listening to the children during play and joining in their games. The games that they make up, their enthusiasm and creativity always brings me so much joy.

What animal would you be? Wedge-tailed Eagle (we think she should be a chameleon with her changing hair colours😍)

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? No where fancy. Camping spots around Australia with water, fishing, and a fire.

What would your walk out song be? Someone who can - Coheed and Cambria

Least favourite activity at school? Cleaning up after my own messy play experiences, and knowing full well that I will do it again ha!

What made you want to become an educator?
I wanted my job to mean something. To feel like I was making a difference in the world, even if only for a few people.

(And unlike Kirstyns, this photo was not taken yesterday)
