☀️ SUMMER STARTS NOW.

By the time summer arrives, your child could have the skills to respond independently in the water.

At Kids Aquatic Survival School, we teach practical aquatic survival skills — helping children learn to:

💦 Recover from an accidental fall into water
✅ Roll onto their Back, Rest, breathe and maintain a float
🏊 Swim and float in a sequence until they reach safety
🛟 If safety is not within reach, remain in a floating, breathing posture until help arrives

These are skills to start thinking about NOW
DON’T wait for SUMMER to arrive.

💙Start now. Build life-saving skills before summer

💙 World Drowning Prevention Day 💙

Today we remember.

We remember every life lost to drowning.
Every child.
Every adult.
Every story that ended far too soon.

We remember the families whose lives have been changed forever.
The friends who carry the loss.
The communities left with an empty space that can never be filled.

Drowning is often silent, sudden, devastating and far reaching. But it is also largely preventable.

At Kids Aquatic Survival School, we believe every child deserves the skills and confidence to survive an unexpected aquatic emergency. Teaching children to recover from an unintentional fall into water, float on their back, remain calm isn’t just swimming lessons - it’s a life-saving skill.

Today, we honour those we’ve lost by continuing to educate, advocate and work towards a future where fewer families experience this heartbreak and we achieve a world free from drowning.

Because anyone can drown, no one should.

💙 Floating Saves Lives.

This World Drowning Prevention Day, we share Barbara's amazing journey surviving a non-fatal drowning and having the courage to get back in the water to learn life saving survival skills. All without understanding or speaking English.

Crossing borders and barriers she leant a skill in just 5 weeks which could save her life and perhaps others when she returns home to educate her community.

💦 Keep kids swimming throughout winter ❄️

According to Royal Life Saving, almost a third of all drowning deaths of children under five occur in autumn and winter.

During summer children are keen to participate in swimming activities and frequently practice their aquatic survival skills outside of lessons without even realising. This additional practice is often very noticeable when children return to lessons showing progression.

However when the temperatures start to drop, the idea of swimming and lessons often loses its appeal.

It is important to remember that taking extended breaks where children aren’t swimming at all can set them back and when they eventually do return to the water after weeks or months they will have a LOT of catching up to do.

A key factor of how we learn – especially in children – is through repetition. Breaking this pattern could see children losing the skills they once had and spending a longer time in a level reacquiring those skills. Make sure you’re continuing your children’s swimming lessons to ensure time spent previously learning isn’t wasted.

When children have had an extended absence from the water or lessons we often see a decrease in retention of skills. Continuing swimming lessons throughout winter will allow them to continue learning and also help them to develop skills that will enhance their aquatic survival and safety in and around water.

Call 1800 543 779 or email [email protected] to enrol your child into our accelerated survival program or if they are an existing student they might benefit from an intensive week of lessons delivered throughout the school holidays to enhance their water safety.

💦 Survival skills put to use in a time of need.

Falls into water remain the leading activity prior to drowning for children aged 1-4 years.

Learning to recover from a fall, roll to back, rest, breathe and remain in a calm floating posture until help arrives can give the child, parents/carers and/or emergency services those crucial seconds would could be life changing.
