Today on World Children's Day, we celebrate every child’s right to a safe, happy, and playful childhood.

This year’s theme is "the right to play" – because play isn’t just fun, it’s how kids learn and grow. Sadly, millions of children miss out on this simple joy due to conflict, displacement, inequality or lack of safe spaces.

Let’s stand together to protect this right for every child, everywhere 💙

What a wonderful final excursion for 2025! 🎉
Our kindy children were so excited to hop back onto the Quilpie Council bus and head off to Gyrica for a special "Teddy Bear's Picnic" with the Quilpie Seniors.

The children loved seeing the seniors' treasured childhood bears, shared morning tea, sang songs and listened to a story read by Robyn Cherry, who has certainly not lost her teacher skills....once a teacher, always a teacher! 🍎📓

After our goodbyes, we visited Quilpie State College, where the children enjoyed seeing their siblings and friends and having a play on the 'big' playground.

We feel incredibly lucky to have access to the bus and these wonderful opportunities to build strong connections with our seniors and school community. ❤️

A huge thank-you to our 2025 bus driver, Mr.Ian, who has generously volunteered his time to drive us on all of our excursions this year. We appreciate him so much!

Today, we pause to remember and honour those who bravely served and sacrificed in times of war.

Two of our Kindergarten children proudly represented Mulga Mates at the Quilpie Shire Rememberance Day Ceremony. They respectfully laid a wreath and stood in silence alongside our community, paying tribute to those who gave so much for our freedom.

Our curious learners were thrilled to explore two real Apostle Bird (Happy Jack) nests made from mud and grass! They loved how these clever birds work together to build strong, cosy homes for their families.

Inspired by nature, the children created their own nests and birds using collage materials, playdough, and feathers - showing wonderful creativity and imagination! 🐦‍⬛🪶🪹🪺

We proudly celebrated "Children’s Rights Week" at Mulga Mates- a time to honour every child's voice, value and right to be heard. 😀

We were fortunate to receive a grant from Children's Rights Queensland, which helped bring our celebration to life. With the support, our children collaborated to create a vibrant public mural titled "Our Voices, Our Rights" - a beautiful expression of themselves and the importance of being seen and heard. 🧒👧

Stop into the Library on October 31st from 4:00 PM to get into the spooky spirit before heading off to Trick or Treat! Take photos of your costume in our photobooth, win prizes by completing a scavenger hunt or make some creepy craft!

Activities are open to kids of all ages. Please note children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult when visiting the library. Contact Quilpie Library on 4656 0550 for more information.

🌟🎉 Today, our Kindergarten had a wonderful celebration of Diwali, the Festival of Lights! 🪔✨ Miss Raman shared her cultural traditions with the children as we embraced the beauty of this special day. 💖

We had so much fun dancing, making colorful rangoli, beautiful diyas 🪔, painting our hands with henna designs, cooking traditional sweets 🍬, and dressing up in vibrant, traditional costumes! 💃🕺

It was a day full of joy, laughter, and learning about the richness of different cultures. Thank you, Miss Raman, for sharing this beautiful celebration with us! 🌸
