Wellbeing Wednesday | The Resilience Project
This week, our Lowe St students focused on developing their understanding of empathy and the important role it plays in building positive relationships and creating a caring school community. Through discussions, activities and shared learning experiences, students explored what it means to understand and consider the feelings of others, practise kindness and compassion, and recognise the impact their words and actions can have on those around them.
It has been wonderful to see students demonstrating empathy by listening to others, showing kindness, offering support when needed and celebrating different perspectives. These experiences help students build stronger connections, develop emotional awareness and contribute to a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
Try continuing our empathy focus at home!
Over the weekend, encourage your child to think about empathy and how they can show care and understanding towards others. You might ask questions such as:
• How do you think someone else felt today?
• What is one way you showed kindness to someone this week?
• When has someone shown empathy or understanding towards you?
• How can you help someone who might be feeling sad, worried or left out?
Practising empathy helps children strengthen relationships, develop emotional intelligence and build resilience by learning to understand, support and connect with others.
