Dream Cricket is back!
Another fantastic morning last Friday for our Supported students! Dream Cricket gives every student the opportunity to participate at their own level, experience success and enjoy being part of a team.
So much enthusiasm, encouragement and plenty of smiles!

On Wednesday August 26th, 68 Queanbeyan Public School students from Years 3-6 attended the inaugural Queanbeyan OzTag Gala Day. Our 6 teams showed outstanding sportsmanship and skills across the day.

5 of our 6 teams made the Semi Finals with the Year 6 Boys Team winning the Stage 3 Division in a thrilling ‘Drop off’ extra time victory over Googong PS, showing excellent resilience to bounce back after Googong scored to equalise the game in the last play of regulation.

Well done to all teams!!

Year 5 students enjoyed reading the CBCA Short-listed book 'Once I was a Giant' written and illustrated by Zeno Sworder.
Told from the tree’s perspective, the story follows the life of a tree and explores what it means to grow, belong, and change over time. Students found a quiet spot amongst the trees around the school where they could create a response to the story.

The P&C are hosting the Father's Day stall from 9-11am on Tuesday 1st of September in the school hall.

Here is a list of what students can expect.

Items-

All items range from $1 - $10.

A catalogue of items has been sent to each classroom for students to look through prior to the stall. The catalogue is attached to this message if you would like to help your child select something.

Some items are limited in quantities so please be flexible when deciding.

We ask that you send any money with the children in a ziplock bag or pouch so that they don't lose it. Bags will be provided.

The stall tables will be set up as $1, $2, $3, $5, $8, $10 and Pop/Grandpa/Neutral.

Neutral Table-
We will again have a neutral table that will have Pop/Grandpa items as well as items without dad written on them for any other special person the students may wish to purchase for.

Financial Hardship-
We understand and appreciate some of our families may be experiencing financial difficulties. Please know that we will discreetly support any students in this situation. They will still be able to select a special gift for a loved one if they choose. Please reach out to your class teacher if you wish to discuss confidentially.

Forgotten Money-
Any students who have forgotten their money will still be able to make purchases. After selecting their items, they will receive a ticket with the amount owing to bring home to you. Their items will be taken to the front office and can be collected upon making payment any time prior to 3.30pm Friday 5th. Families are not obligated to purchase all/any items your student has put aside.

Stall Day Absence-
If your child is away on the day, there will be a tub of items in the office that they can purchase from until Friday 4th September.

We are really looking forward to the day, the hall will be buzzing with excitement!

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Queanbeyan for once again supporting our school library with a generous $500 donation! We are incredibly grateful for their continued commitment to our students and our community every year. This consistent support ensures our library remains a welcoming and resourceful space for all.

Thank you, Rotary Club, for helping us inspire a love of reading and lifelong learning!

Book Week is one of our favourite weeks of the year! Both students and staff get excited about dressing up as their favourite book characters.

Despite the rain on Tuesday, we held a modified parade in the hall — and it was such a fun event! Students proudly paraded their amazing costumes to families, bringing stories to life right before our eyes.

On Monday 24 August, Stage 3 students participated in a Book Week workshop with Bundjalung artist Charmaine Ledden-Lewis. Charmaine was the 2019 winner of Magabala Books’ Kestin Indigenous Illustrator Award and illustrated Bruce Pascoe’s children’s picture book Found and Cathy Freeman’s book Born to Run. Students enjoyed a discussion about language and learned how illustrators use visual art to communicate stories and ideas. Charmaine showed us how she uses soft pastels to create landscapes, and then guided students to draw a turtle.
