Welcome to the future of YLab! ⚡️

We are thrilled to announce that Imogen Gerraty and Damon Chester will be leading YLab as our incoming Co-CEOs.

This moment is more than a leadership transition, as it reflects who we’re becoming as an organisation. As we launch our new strategy, YLab is doubling down on our commitment to youth-led systems change.

Imogen is joining YLab as a nationally recognised systems thinker and advocate for children and young people. At 27, she brings lived and executive experience - most recently as a senior executive at the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare, leading strategy and engagement to shift how systems respond to young people facing the greatest inequity. She leads with an unwavering belief that the people closest to the problem hold the clearest view of the solution.

Damon is stepping into this role after leading YLab’s operations over the past 4 years. At 28, he has overseen our transition to independence: co-designing our governance foundations, building sustainable systems and embedding young people across every level of our organisation. His people-centred approach ensures that how we work internally is as thoughtful and equitable as the changes we seek in the world.

Together, Imogen and Damon bring complementary strengths across strategy, partnerships, co-design and organisational leadership. Just as importantly, they bring a shared commitment to leading collaboratively, transparently, and with deep respect for the young people we work with.

This Co-CEO model reflects the future we want to build - one that shares power, centres reciprocity, and demonstrates that young people can design and drive better systems when given the opportunity.

We’re incredibly excited about what this makes possible for us and our partners! 🚀
