Thank you to Liam, Steve, Sandy, Chris and Lia for their fantastic efforts at today’s working bee. Together, we achieved a great deal—sorting our book collection, refreshing the children’s bathroom with a new coat of paint, and mulching the garden to support healthy plant growth.

While we weren’t quite able to complete everything—particularly the removal of the boat and part of the deck (and with our power tools running out of charge!)—we’re looking forward to finishing this work next Saturday. Any additional support would be greatly appreciated.

This space will soon be transformed into a new learning area for the children, including a garden where they will be able to grow and care for food as part of our curriculum. This will provide meaningful opportunities for children to develop a sense of responsibility, connection to the environment, and understanding of where food comes from.

Thanks also to Jeffries for the donation of mulch and to Alexis for collecting it for us!

A massive thanks to our amazing community for the support at our most recent Bunnings BBQ on Saturday. Whether you donated your time to volunteer, goods, vouchers or came past for a snag, you contributed to raising $1960 for the kindergarten ❤️

Our next BBQ is Saturday 7 June at Bunnings Prospect.

Before and after – our new regulation space has been completed and is ready for the term to resume next week.

Whilst the space is currently bare, our team will be undertaking a project this year in partnership with occupational therapists and our community to thoughtfully design the environment so it meets the regulation and learning needs of our children.

Self-regulation is a foundational skill in the early years. When children are supported to recognise, manage and respond to their emotions, energy levels and sensory needs, they are better able to engage in play, build relationships and participate confidently in learning experiences. A dedicated regulation space provides children with a safe and supportive place to pause, reset and develop strategies that help them return to learning feeling calm, secure and ready.

Through this work, we aim to intentionally support children’s wellbeing and learning, recognising that strong regulation skills underpin curiosity, persistence and positive social interactions.

A huge thank you to for their work and support in redeveloping this space.

Over the past two terms, children have been exploring the idea of rights through our Child Protection Curriculum. Together, they have created our own ‘Charter of Rights’ for St Helen’s Park Kindergarten. In this learning, we’ve talked about rights as the things every child should always have - like feeling safe, being respected, and having a voice in their world. These rights are on display in the kindergarten for us to refer to in our daily discussions with children.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been learning to care for a group of silkworms kindly shared with us by our friends at Agnes Goode Kindergarten. The children have enjoyed picking fresh mulberry leaves each day, cleaning the habitat, drawing the silkworms, and reading about their life cycle. This morning, there was great excitement as several silkworms began cocooning themselves—preparing for the next stage in their life cycle!

A huge thank you to everyone for supporting our final fundraiser of 2025, which raised $1,575 to contribute towards the rejuvenation of our indoor learning environment. It was wonderful to see so many families come along today, despite the terrible weather! 🌦️

Special thanks to our fantastic volunteers from - Jordan, Timo, Fiesta, Vi, Michael and Steve, for running the BBQ alongside Steve and Claudia, and to Rob Wakefield for his support with supply runs throughout the day.

Part of what makes Prospect such an incredible community is the way we come together to support one another. Today was a great example of that spirit in action, thank you for helping to make our kindergarten an even more engaging and inspiring place for our children to learn and grow.

A huge thank you to all our families for making today’s Family Fun Day at the Adelaide Miniature Steam Railway such a success — and so much fun! It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the day, with the weather holding out so our community could make the most of the event.

A special thank you to the AMSR team for hosting us. The railway is entirely volunteer-run and provides these fundraising days for community groups, generously donating all gate takings. Today, they donated $1,650 to our kindergarten! 🚂

Finally, a big thank you to Ashleigh, Claudia, and Sue for giving up their time to help sell sausages and drinks — even if many of the children were a little confused about why we were there! 😂

Our BBQ and drink sales raised $625, bringing the total for the day to an amazing $2,275!
