3/4C have been reading Wandi by Favel Parrett, the remarkable true story of a young dingo pup who was taken from his family by an eagle and later rescued by humans. ๐๐ฆ
Inspired by the story, students have been learning about dingoes and exploring the power of descriptive language. Using a range of adjectives, they wrote detailed descriptions of a dingoโs appearance, behaviour and characteristics, demonstrating their understanding of both the text and effective writing techniques. ๐โ๏ธ
What wonderful writing 3/4C! โจ

๐ค๐โค๏ธ To end National Reconciliation Week, our SRC and Student Leaders led a special assembly exploring the importance of reconciliation and this year's theme, "All In."
Students reflected on the learning that took place throughout the week, including learning Dharug language, acknowledging Country each day, and developing a deeper understanding of our shared history through truth-telling and meaningful conversations.
Our school also created the Ashcroft Public School Reconciliation Chain, with each link representing a member of our school community. The chain reminds us that we are all connected and that reconciliation is something we can achieve together.
Didjurigura to our SRC and Student Leaders for helping us reflect on how we can all be "All In" and walk together towards reconciliation ๐ค๐โค๏ธ

On Monday, PJ worked with students to share his knowledge of the traditional process and cultural significance of a Kup Murri - a traditional Aboriginal underground earth oven. ๐ฅโซ๐ก๐ด
They watched as wrapped chickens and potatoes were placed over heated rocks and banana leaves before being covered with wet calico and dirt to cook underground.
Students were excited to be involved in the experience, helping to remove the soil and uncover the food once it was ready.
To finish the day, some students were able to try the freshly cooked chicken and potatoes from the Kup Murri.
It was a wonderful hands-on learning opportunity that deepened our understanding of Aboriginal culture and traditions.
Didjurigura PJ for sharing your knowledge, culture and experiences with our school. ๐ค๐โค๏ธ

This term, our Stage 2 students have been researching a FIFA World Cup nation of their choice! ๐โฝ
This week, they transformed their research into engaging digital presentations, learning how to customise backgrounds, insert images and adjust font size and colour to make their work stand out.
It has been wonderful to see their creativity and growing confidence with technology.
We can't wait to see their finished presentations at the end of the term!

โ๏ธ๐๐ท As well as learning about adverbial phrases in English and the properties of 2D shapes in Mathematics, 5/6P have been busy exploring their path towards reconciliation ๐ดโซ๐ก
They started with
๐ their class Acknowledgement of Country,
๐ถ tuned into Uncle Archie Roachโs powerful story through song, and
๐ฃ deep-dived into significant dates in Australia's history, including National Sorry Day and Mabo Day.
These learning experiences have helped 5/6P develop a deeper understanding of the importance of respect, truth-telling and reconciliation, while recognising the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

KF have been busy learning about sharing into equal groups! ๐ขโจ
Using counters, they explored how objects can be shared fairly between groups ๐งฎ
They worked hard to count, sort and explain their thinking as they developed their understanding of early division concepts.
Well done KF!
