Time: 9-4pm

Locations: EATA, 309 Petsch Creek Rd, Tallebudgera Valley, QLD

Details:
This 2 day workshop will introduce the important role of embodied awareness both for living and for being a therapist. We will experience how our embodied self is what creates authentic presence. We will cultivate a sophisticated level of embodiment, and through specific somatic modalities discover how deeply intelligent and responsive our bodies are in interaction. We will explore observing, facilitating, witnessing and resonating as embodied skills, and look diagnostically at the organisation of systems within a person. We will enrich the repertoire of how we make contact by embracing the many textures and rhythms of our different functional systems. The work is a synthesis of Gestalt, Somatic Practices, and Relational approaches. It draws upon the philosophical legacy of Phenomenology and the advances in Neurobiology that have influenced contemporary psychotherapy practice. The physiological knowledge is based on her honours degree in somatics and dance and further studies in somatic movement education from world wide leaders in the field.
Modalities employed:
Movement practice, authentic movement, anatomical information, visual aids, demonstration, participatory experiential learning, facilitated touch, somatic movement explorations, application in personal process work and group process practice, examples of clinical issues and interventions.
Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. All movement modalities will be inner directed, often with participants eyes closed, in a co-created environment of non-judgemental safety. No previous movement experience is necessary. Movement practices may happen in silence or with music, alone, partnered and with the whole group.

Hi I'm Zjamal Xanitha. For 30 years I've been supporting people to find their depth, authenticity and possibilities, in many diverse settings, working as a psychotherapist with individuals, couples and groups. I’m a Clinical Member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, and of Gestalt Australia & New Zealand. I love my work and I'm still inspired every day to support people to re-find themselves.

As a counselling clinician, I am very client-centered, your safety matters greatly to me. I am interested in what is happening for you in your life and in your relationships and I'm willing to be touched by your experiences. I work in a holistic way with your mind, body, and soul. In a co-created, constructive way we explore options that got lost to you in your suffering. I am also certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy training for the treatment of trauma. In addition to individual therapy I run support programs where people learn simple, safe ways to re-discover embodied aliveness and responsiveness. This work is based in neuroscience, psychotherapeutic methods to renegotiate traumatic states, where you gently allow your nervous system to repair, returning you home to you.

If you feel alone, disconnected, overwhelmed, in pain, stuck and unable to move forward please get in touch today for a no-obligation initial conversation to see if I can help you

Living on Loving You

A One Day Grief and Loss Support Program

It has been a year since my mother passed away. My heart and my mind are often with her. With the absence of her presence that I feel with every breath. With all the care that I still long to give her that somehow has nowhere to go. And with the unknown mystery of death that despite its closeness still escapes my understanding.

After I heard the news, I sat still for a while, and then I stepped outside. My garden and the trees were quiet and earthy fragrant. Darkness had fallen and the stars were arcing across the sky. I remembered how different cultures have images of Goddesses who reach across the heavens. Being sky-hearted felt right. I felt broken open, in a vast cloud moving kind of way.

So many words I still long to say to her, and so many more I wish I could have stayed still long enough to hear from her. My yearning to call her or go see her will never leave me.

In the beginning, despite knowing in my mind she was gone, I couldn't quite get that she was no longer here. It takes time to thaw from the shock of it. It takes gratitude to soften into the legacy of what your loved one left behind in you. It takes tender commitment to transfer the pain into stories of remembering.

Your process of grief will be as unique as your relationship was. You and your loved one were a singular combination. Your grieving for them is as if it were co-created with them; in its timing, its quality, its imagery, in how it feels inside you. Many people talk about the stages of grief, but yours may be nothing like the progress identified in the literature.

I want to offer others an alternative to the usual channels we have for mourning. In my experience, and I am no stranger to loss, the intimacy of the grieving process over time feels overlooked. The on-going recognition of the transitions. You may have lost your loved one recently or longer ago. If you would like support with the grieving process, please come to my brief support group program. A small intimate gathering for one afternoon and evening. The package includes two one-to-one therapy sessions, one before and one after the small circle. Our sadness requires tender holding, not too tight as to suffocate it, and not too loose as to feel left alone with it.

May 23rd 2.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.

Psychoeducation about grief, circle sharing and stories, inspiration for personalised mourning processes, candlelight ceremony.
