Fully Funded Powerhouse Museum Excursion – Years 7–10

We are excited to offer a fully funded 3 day excursion experience to the newly opened Powerhouse Museum for students in Years 7–10.

Our school is one of only 10 schools selected to participate in this special opportunity.

Places are strictly limited, so eligible students are encouraged to act quickly.

Skip Counting in 1/2 G!

Students in 1/2 G have been busy building their skip counting skills! Each week, students take part in our skip counting program, practising patterns and developing confidence with numbers.

Skip counting is an important foundation for multiplication, division, number patterns and mental maths. Regular practice helps students recognise patterns, make connections between numbers and develop fluency with their number facts.

We are really proud of our students and the way they challenge themselves, learn the patterns and celebrate their progress each week!

🌟 Innovate and Inspire: Connecting STEM, Volunteering and Community 🌟

Portland Central School and the Central West Academy of STEM Excellence recently held our Innovate and Inspire Volunteering Expo! Students from Kindergarten to Year 12 explored how STEM skills connect to volunteering and the local community.

Our students were lucky enough to meet and learn about the following organisations during the expo:

We all had a great time taking part in hands-on activities and problem solving, discovering how STEM is used every day to help others and make a difference in their community. From designing sustainable solutions to responding to emergencies, everyone had the chance to learn, collaborate and think creatively.

A HUGE thank you to all our community organisations, volunteers, parents and staff for sharing your time, knowledge and enthusiasm. Your support made this event such a valuable experience for our students.

🌟 Ready Set School – Kindergarten Transition Program 🌟

We’re looking forward to welcoming our little learners to Ready Set School next week!

Ready Set School is open to all children, regardless of which primary school they will attend in 2027. Parents and younger siblings are also very welcome to join us if needed.

A reminder for families about Wednesday’s arrangements:

Children who attend Blinky Bill on Wednesdays will be brought up to Ready Set School by their Blinky Bill educators and will return to Blinky Bill afterwards.

Children who do not attend Blinky Bill on Wednesdays will need to sign in at the school office. Our office staff will then direct children to the Playgroup Room.

We’re excited to see everyone and help our children feel happy, confident and ready for school!

Dear Parents,
We are currently experiencing a power outage. We have no heating or power so will be operating with minimal supervision as we will not be able to run normal classes.
Trial HSC exams are postponed.
