Have You Met... Riley? 💚
Riley's HHB story starts with Michael Jackson. His mum spotted our flyer when HHB was just getting started in 2012, Riley was 6, and that was that. MJ was the original spark, and there is apparently still a video of a 3 year old Riley dancing along in the lounge room to prove it. He has been part of this school ever since.
He will be the first to tell you he used to be so nervous in class, shy about being seen, reluctant to step forward. Now? He is the first one up, showing everyone how it is done. That shift did not happen overnight, but it happened, and it is written all over the way he teaches.
The teaching bug hit during his first year in our student teaching program, working alongside Elyshia, one of our legendary former teachers. Watching how she connected with every single student and the creativity she brought to her choreography, he knew. That was what he wanted to do.
These days Riley's students bring the kind of energy that keeps you on your toes. Sassy, driven, always wanting to smash it out and give their absolute best, when they feel like it 🤪 He loves them for exactly that.
What his students probably do not know is that Riley makes music. Genuinely makes it. If you are old enough, you can find him on TikTok (he was really clear that he wants to give a language warning on his lyrics that aren't suitable for all student ages). He is also studying social work outside of HHB, which honestly makes complete sense when you see how he shows up for his students.
His students would describe him as goofy, outgoing and brain rotted (if you have a teenager at home, they will explain that one for you, I had to ask 🙈).
A great class to Riley feels like good vibes, happiness and strong energy all the way through from start to finish. Music volume: never loud enough.
He is also a total dog person.
