TIP: when using a toilet cubicle with your Preschool child, ensure you give them the opportunity to practice using the the vacant/engaged lock on the toilet door. This will help with your child's confidence when using the toilet cubicles at big school.

I can't believe it is time to enrol my youngest for school next year! 🤯 (I better get on with that! 😂).
I am starting to prepare her academically, emotionally and socially for next year and I am going to show you how. If you have older children it is great to include them in the process. This will provide them with a sense of responsibility and also revise and cement in place for them the foundations of learning.

As we head towards the end of school holidays some parents are wondering how to support their children to transition to school. As you would be well aware the Queensland Government has delayed the start of the School year by two weeks. To avoid Prep students being delayed with their learning I have written a two week academic plan based around the 'School Readiness Guide' to ensure your little one does not miss out on any essential learning time and they are primed and ready to go for the new start date of the 7th of February. I am sure some parents are disappointed for their children, however let's try to turn this into a positive and prepare your child in the best way possible for the upcoming year.

I was recently talking to my friend about how the School Readiness Guide was initially created. I told her that the academic section was exactly how I prepared my little girl for school, which I had adapted from teaching Kindergarten and when doing intervention with students over the years.
I then told my friend that I did this because I was worried that my daughter would struggle with reading because both my husband and I struggled to learn how to read. However to my delight by following this exact protocol my gorgeous girl absolutely soared in her first year of school and learnt how to read with ease.
