Jesus is ALL about RESTORATION, physical, mental and spiritual. In my experience He has taken matters into His own hands to bring about healing of those really deep childhood wounds. Human help was useless. These things are buried deep within us, mostly within our subconscious mind, but they continue to affect our daily experience, our relationships with others and even our spiritual lives. That is why David invited God to, "search me oh God and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts, see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting".
God CAN heal our deepest wounds if we open up our hearts to Him and invite Him to show us what is in there. He is a gentle, delicate but very precise surgeon. He cuts away the cancers of past pain and sin, and heals us even STRONGER than before. Our scars become a testimony of His power to transform our life. God wants to present us "perfect and complete, wanting nothing" He wants us WHOLE, healthy and happy - just the way He made us...and He is WELL ABLE to do it.

Gotta watch those cognitive distortions...we are not alone in our experience. Reaching out for support is the first step in realising our experiences are common to mankind and there IS hope. Others have overcome these SAME struggles, and so can we.

Depressed people often single themselves out, assuming that they have problems, difficulties, and conditions, that other people do not have. They reinforce their sense of isolation by cherishing the belief that they are somehow more damaged, less lovable, more unfortunate, less attractive, less valuable than everyone else. I can tell you as someone who has been in private counseling practice for 15 years that the world is teeming with hurting people. The first step if you are singling is to realize that your struggles are common to humanity.
