Severe Weather Warning for HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL
Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East, North East Pastoral and parts of Kangaroo Island, North West Pastoral, West Coast and Lower Eyre Peninsula districts.

HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL THROUGH MUCH OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA, BECOMING MORE LIKELY ABOUT CENTRAL AND EASTERN PARTS INCLUDING ADELAIDE ON SUNDAY

Weather Situation: A low pressure system located over the far southern Northern Territory is currently moving southwards into far northern South Australia. An extremely humid tropical airmass is wrapping around the southern flank of this low, extending into central and southern parts of the state. A trough over southern SA will interact with the tropical airmass into Sunday, increasing the risk of heavy, locally intense falls.
Severe Weather Warning

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely about northern and western parts of the state tonight, however is possible about central and southeastern parts including Adelaide. The risk of HEAVY RAINFALL is expected to increase about central and eastern parts, including Adelaide, on Sunday. Six hourly rainfall totals between 30 and 50 mm are possible tonight, increasing to 40 to 60 mm about central and southeastern parts on Sunday.

Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is likely about northern and western parts tonight, however is possible in thunderstorms elsewhere. The risk will broaden to the Murraylands and Riverland districts tonight, and more broadly about central and southeastern parts including Adelaide on Sunday. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 40 to 60 mm are possible today, increasing to 60 to 100 mm on Sunday.

Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Whyalla, Renmark, Mount Gambier, Port Augusta and Port Pirie.

41.2 MM OF RAINFALL WAS RECORDED AT PARNDANA IN THE 2 HOURS TO 7:15 AM.

68.8 MM OF RAINFALL WAS RECORDED AT MINNIPA IN THE 6 HOURS TO 2:00 AM.

46.2 mm of rainfall was recorded at Naracoorte in the 6 hours to 1:45 pm.

41.4 mm of rainfall was recorded at Cape Jaffa in the 6 hours to 1:29 pm.

51 mm of rainfall was recorded at Robe in the 6 hours to 1:19 pm.

40.8 mm of rainfall was recorded at Snowtown in the 6 hours to 12:00 pm.

53 mm of rainfall was recorded at Ceduna in the 6 hours to 11:47 am.

24 mm of rainfall was recorded at Kingscote Airport in the 60 minutes to 6:15 am.

22.8 mm of rainfall was recorded at Kingscote in the 30 minutes to 5:55 am.

48 mm of rainfall was recorded at Wudinna Airport in the 6 hours to 4:45 am.

* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains;

* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for HEAVY RAINFALL
For people in Flinders and parts of Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Mid North, North East Pastoral and North West Pastoral districts.

Issued at 10:33 am Sunday, 22 February 2026.

Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms across parts of southeastern South Australia.

Weather Situation: A trough and cold front move through the south of the state today, generating thunderstorms. A very humid airmass ahead of these systems brings the risk of heavy rainfall with thunderstorms.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Hawker, Jamestown and Burra.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
