SA Olympics Unleashed ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ…

Our Sports Academy students were fortunate to meet Matthew Glaetzer, an Olympic cyclist and one of Australiaโ€™s most accomplished athletes. Matthew is a two-time Olympic Bronze Medallist, five-time Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, and a three-time World Champion ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ†.

Matthew spoke openly about his journey, highlighting the importance of resilience, goal setting, and maintaining belief through setbacks, injuries, and challenges. His message gave students a rare insight into what it truly takes to perform at an elite level โ€” from the discipline of daily training and structured recovery to the critical role of nutrition and the personal sacrifices required to pursue excellence.

Our students were extremely grateful for the opportunity to learn from someone who has competed on the world stage. We sincerely thank Matthew for taking the time to visit us and share his experiences. ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿฅ Year 7 Music โ€“ Bucket Drumming ๐ŸŽถ

Over the last five weeks, year 7 music students have been focusing on bucket drumming, developing their rhythm and ability to follow music as part of the practical component of their music classes.

Students have been following โ€˜bucket drummingโ€™ YouTube videos to hone their skills and develop their technique. They have also demonstrated excellent resilience in class by continuing to play even when they make a mistake. ๐Ÿ’ช

This has culminated in the class performing for Learning Hub classes and many other teaching staff, including their year level Assistant Principal and Deputy Principal, who were very impressed!

Yesterdayโ€™s concert was the final of three performances held each Wednesday during their double lesson. The students performed for Mr Wilson and a few other teaching staff. ๐Ÿ‘

The students have been learning songs including We Will Rock You, Canโ€™t Stop the Feeling! and Rolling in the Deep.

The recorded video features the students performing We Will Rock You. ๐ŸŽธ
