🦠 A little reminder during a very tough sickness season 🦠

We are seeing so much illness circulating at the moment, including RSV and other respiratory viruses. If your child is showing signs of being unwell, please keep them home to rest and recover.

Keeping sick children home protects not only their friends, but also our educators and the families we all go home to. You never know who has a new baby, vulnerable child or family member who may become much more unwell from the same virus.

It also helps keep our Kindy doors open — if educators become sick and we are unable to find suitable relief staff, we may simply not have the staffing required to open safely.

Thank you for looking after our whole Kindy community. 💚

Yum yum, another Kindy Kitchen success! 🫐🍓🥣

Yesterday we made our Berry Yoghurt Parfaits with creamy vanilla yoghurt, toasted oats, berries and a little drizzle of honey. The children loved making their own layers, sprinkling in the oats and, of course, getting to taste their creations! 😋

Lots of happy little faces and some very yummy parfaits today! 💙

National Rail Safety Week at Kindy! 💛🚂

We were very lucky to have the amazing author Chantelle Fry visit us at kindy to share her new children’s book, The Adventures of the Travellers Crew: The Safest Way to Cross the Tracks.

We joined Telly, Tommie and Carrie on their outback adventure to the mine, learning about three different ways we might cross railway tracks safely—from overpasses and boom gates to quiet country crossings. 🚦🛤️

The children loved listening to the story and chatting with Chantelle about the important message that every journey deserves care—on the road, on the tracks and everywhere.

After the story, everyone was very excited to put their creativity to work with a rail safety colouring-in competition! 🖍️🚂

A huge thank you to Chantelle for visiting us and making such an important safety message fun, meaningful and memorable for our children.

🥞🍌 Our Kindy Kitchen was filled with smiles today! 🍌🥞

This weeks recipe was our delicious Banana Pikelets, and they were a huge hit with our little chefs! The children loved mashing the bananas, cracking the eggs, mixing the batter and watching the ingredients transform into fluffy golden pikelets.

The first batch was tasty that we decided to experiment with the next one by adding even more banana. We discovered they were even fluffier and full of delicious banana flavour! Once they came off the pan, we spread a little butter on top while they were still warm… yum, yum! 😋

Cooking together gave us the opportunity to practise measuring, mixing, taking turns and talking about how ingredients change as we cook. Best of all, the children enjoyed sharing their creations with their friends and proudly tasting something they had made themselves.

If you’d like to try our Banana Pikelets at home, we’d love to hear what your family thinks. Don’t forget to let us know if you add your own special twist too! 💙👩‍🍳🍌🥞

☕ Missing Coffee Cup! ☕

A lovely coffee cup was left behind at Augusta Park Kindy Playgroup.

If you think it might be yours, please pop into Kindy next week to claim it. We’d love to see it reunited with its owner!

Thanks everyone! 💚

Our much-loved turtle, Massive, has returned to Kindy after enjoying a holiday stay with Lucy and Layton. He is happily settling back into his lovely clean pond, ready to greet the children again!

A huge thank you to Lucy and Layton for taking such wonderful care of Massive over the school holidays. We really appreciate your kindness and helping us keep him happy and healthy. We know the children will be so excited to see him back at Kindy! 🌿💙

A wonderful surprise has arrived at Kindy! 🌱🐸

Our Kindy has welcomed some very special new friends—tadpoles! The children are going to be so excited to discover them and watch their incredible journey over the coming weeks.

To make them feel right at home, we’ve also harvested some fresh home-grown bok choy from our garden. We’ll be gently boiling it ready for our hungry little tadpoles to enjoy. What a special way for the children to see the connection between growing food in the garden and caring for living things.

This exciting experience will provide so many opportunities for learning as we observe the amphibian life cycle (metamorphosis), watching our tadpoles gradually grow legs, lose their tails and transform into frogs. Along the way we’ll be encouraging the children to ask questions, make predictions, record their observations, learn new vocabulary, and develop an understanding of how living things grow, change and depend on us to care for them.

We can’t wait to see the wonder on the children’s faces as they meet our newest Kindy friends and become little scientists, gardeners and wildlife carers all at once. 🐸💚🌿

🍕👩‍🍳 Our Kindy Kitchen was busy again today! 👩‍🍳🍕

Today our little chefs made their very own English Muffin Pizzas! Everyone had a turn spreading the pizza sauce, sprinkling the cheese and choosing their favourite toppings to create a delicious pizza just the way they liked it.

Along the way we practised our fine motor skills, counted our toppings, compared different colours and shapes, and talked about making healthy food choices. Most importantly, we had lots of fun working together!

One of the highlights of today was seeing so many children be brave and give new flavours a try, even if they weren’t quite sure about them at first. At kindy, we love encouraging children to explore new foods in a positive, relaxed way. Repeatedly seeing, smelling, touching and tasting different foods helps build confidence, develop adventurous taste buds and create healthy eating habits that can last a lifetime. 🌱💙

🍅🧀🍍🍄🫑🐷 we forgot mushroom and used dairy free cheese.

We’d love for you to have a go at making these simple pizzas at home! If you do, we’d love to see your creations and new flavour combos—share a photo or let us know what your family thought. Happy cooking! 💙🍕
