🌟On 11 August, our Year 11 students took part in the annual Leadership Day at the West Augusta Football Club. The day gave students an opportunity to reflect on how they can contribute to the College community during their final year of schooling. With a focus on courage, compassion and community, students explored their personal strengths and considered whether they may wish to nominate for student leadership roles.

💤🌝On Thursday of Week 4, our year 12 students participated in a homelessness sleepout to raise awareness and empathy for those who are homeless. Jake Collins from the Salvation Army visited to answer any questions students might have about homelessness. Students and staff alike were grateful for a clear, still night as they slept on mats under the E Block verandah.

Science Week at Our College 🧪🔬 Our students have been enjoying all of the excitement of Science Week with plenty of hands-on learning and discovery. A highlight was the opportunity for students to visit the science lab and work alongside our Year 12 students, taking part in a range of engaging experiments that got everyone excited.

Meanwhile, our Library has transformed into a hub of scientific exploration, featuring fantastic displays and activities. Students have enjoyed observing seeds germinating, investigating how living things grow, and exploring a variety of science-themed resources and learning experiences 🌱

🌟Indigenous School-Based Traineeship Opportunities with CBA Now Open! AFL SportsReady, in partnership with Commonwealth Bank Australia (CBA), is offering Indigenous School-Based Traineeship opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander secondary school students across Australia.

The 2027 program supports students to gain real workplace experience, develop practical skills and complete a nationally recognised qualification while continuing their secondary school studies.

Students will have the opportunity to:
• Complete a fully funded Certificate III in Business
• Work one day per week on-site with Commonwealth Bank Australia
• Gain hands-on experience in a professional workplace environment
• Build customer service, communication and administration skills
• Receive ongoing support from an AFL SportsReady Employment Coach and Indigenous Mentor

The program is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students currently in Year 10 or Year 11, with opportunities available across metropolitan, regional and remote communities.

🌿Congratulations to the candidates from our College who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday. It was a reverent and special celebration with Bishop Karol sealing the candidates with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Confirmation is the final step in the sacraments of initiation following Baptism, First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Bishop Karol described Confirmation as a “profession of
faith”. It was a special celebration for these students, their families and the Parish. May they continue to be nurtured and strengthened through the example of their families as they become role models for our College, parish, and wider community

🏕🥾In week 4 the Year Five cohort had their annual camp at the ever dependable Pichi Richi Park. Over the two days the students were able to participate in a variety of activities designed to help develop their sense of community, understanding of teamwork and to generally have a fun time together outside of the usual classroom atmosphere.

Students had the opportunity to go bushwalking, orienteering, shelter building, play with their friends, follow the park's dog around like it was Taylor Swift, and be their best selves.

Our Year Fives represented the school in a wonderful way with Hamish and the team at the Park being highly impressed with the respectful and responsible ways that our students got on with the busyness of running around, eating lots of food and generally being awesome little people.
