NAPLAN writing: precise words.

Your child comes home from four days at camp and the recount says it was nice. That is not laziness. Nice is the word that always works, so it is the word that gets reached for first.

A nice day. A nice jumper. A nice dinner. One word covering three different things. If a word fits everywhere, it shows nothing.
⠀
Now try soaked. He came home soaked. You know it rained and you can see the puddle by the door.

Same with verbs. He went to the door is a blank. He crept. He bolted. He dragged himself. Three different boys, one word changed.
⠀
This week, take one sentence from their homework and ask about one word. What did that actually look like? Then wait. The answer takes a few seconds to arrive.
