With more than a decade of experience as an English teacher and educator across both secondary and primary levels, Brent Diamond has developed a reputation for achieving outstanding academic growth and building student confidence in English and literacy.
Brent has taught VCE English, History and Media, worked as a VCAA exam assessor, contributed to the development of English and Media curriculum resources, and created key teaching materials used by educators. Since beginning private tutoring in 2016, his students have achieved exceptional outcomes — including selective entry school enrolment success rates of over 82% from tutoring classes, more than 80% of VCE students achieving study scores of 40+, and remarkable literacy growth for students previously performing in the “red zone”.
Before entering teaching, Brent spent more than 15 years as an award-winning journalist, combining his passion for writing, storytelling and communication across some of Australia’s leading media organisations. His work has featured through respected outlets including Fairfax Media publications such as The Age, along with Herald Sun, Geelong Advertiser, Men’s Health, Fox Sports, Sportal and AFL club magazines.
Brent’s passion for writing and education continues to thrive, and he is deeply committed to helping students discover confidence, creativity and success through literacy. His philosophy is simple: when students learn to love writing and communication, they open doors to greater opportunities in every area of life.
That is why families across Melbourne’s western suburbs and beyond are raving about Shine Bright Like A Diamond Tutoring — offering high-quality tutoring both in person and online for students wanting to improve confidence, results and academic performance.

It was great to help with content for the Good Weekend magazine - independent schools advertising feature. Independent schools have become so much bigger now than just being ‘a school’ and offer so much more, leading students to a more holistic education. In other words, it is not just about scoring an A+ anymore.

No doubt the best satisfaction is not only seeing your former students get the study scores in English that they dream of, but hearing they that are in their dream occupations later in life and - hoping - that I have played a small part in them landing the role.
It’s great to hear a former student Jessica, finish her studies and begin life as a neurosurgeon this month. Congratulations to Jessica and best wishes to all.
