Featherbrook College has proven to be an exciting community hub which successfully maximises community engagement. The School is located next to with other community services including: Featherbrook Community Centre, Pre-school, Maternal and Health Care and Featherbrook sports oval. Point Cook’s history is informed by its indigenous heritage, by the RAAF presence and by the wonderful richness of l

ocal families and those who have come from further afield, to call this beautiful part of Victoria, home. The beginning of our school in 2017 marked a point in time where together we began to build on the history of Point Cook. Our school has begun to build a highly respected reputation, known for actively promoting the importance of 4 key Educational Principles. Our college provides learning for students from Prep to year 9 and enjoys a wonderfully diverse educational experience for all. Featherbrook College will only be using this page as a means of celebrating the school and the students. Featherbrook College will NOT be using Facebook as a question and answer platform, and therefore will not be responding to any questions asked here. Our Featherbrook College student sustainability leaders have proudly participated in the Wyndham Litter Sculpture Competition, combining creativity, sustainability, and wildlife conservation to bring an important environmental message to life.
The students chose to create a sculpture featuring the Victorian Grassland Earless Dragon, an endangered species that depends on healthy grassland habitats for its survival. Their sculpture represents both the dragon and the grassland environment it calls home.
Using everyday discarded materials, including tablet blister packs, bottle caps, metal bottle caps, bread tags, ring tabs, scraps of paper and wire, shrunken chip packets, the students transformed litter into an imaginative and meaningful piece of artwork. Each material was carefully repurposed to contribute to the sculpture and demonstrate how items often considered waste can be given a new purpose.
Over two weeks, students dedicated to designing, creating and refining the sculpture. Working collaboratively, they shared ideas, solved problems and experimented with different materials to bring their vision to life.
Their finished sculpture is now on display at Hoppers Crossing Library as part of the Wyndham Litter Sculpture Competition, providing an opportunity for the wider community to see how young people can use creativity to make a positive environmental impact.
This project is a wonderful example of student voice, leadership, and sustainability in action, while also raising awareness of the need to protect Victoria’s threatened wildlife and the habitats they depend on.

As part of our inquiry learning, 5E students worked together to create an ethical board game inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on clean water, health and well-being and climate action. This term, the Year 6s participated in the Smoothie Bar incursion as part of the Economics and Business unit in Interdisciplinary Studies. Students had the opportunity to develop a smoothie product and gain some hands-on business experience, discovering what it takes to run a business and market an idea. Through this, students developed their skills in teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, and financial literacy. The program immersed the students into the world of enterprise in a fun and engaging way. It was a brilliant day of active learning and tasting some yummy smoothies.
