We’re lucky to have Ayden and Connor joining us from Fairbridge College as work experience students, helping out with groundskeeping around Fairbridge Village.

From mowing lawns to tidying up bushes and trees, they’ve been getting stuck into some hands-on learning with Steve, our Lead Groundskeeper.

They’re doing a fantastic job helping keep the village tidy and welcoming — well done, boys!

A Beautiful Beginning

We were absolutely delighted to host the very first wedding in our freshly renovated Belinda Barry Wing at Fairbridge Village

Filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments, it was the perfect way to celebrate this special space and its new chapter. Our talented hospitality team also delivered an incredible dining experience, with amazing pre-reception food platters that truly impressed guests and added to the celebration.

Seeing the venue come to life with such a beautiful event made all the hard work truly worthwhile.

Congratulations to the happy couple—we’re so honoured to have been part of your special day!

PS: The planter box was created by our talented Carpentry Apprentice, Jack, who is also a student from Fairbridge College

The Belinda Barry Wing is part of the historic Fairbridge Club House, built in 1933 and located within the heritage-listed Fairbridge Village precinct. The site is recognised by the Heritage Council of Western Australia for its strong historical, cultural, and social significance.

Named in honour of Belinda Barry, the wing recognises her important contribution to preserving and sharing Fairbridge’s complex history — ensuring that the stories of former child migrants, First Nations communities, and today’s users are respectfully acknowledged.

Originally designed as a place for recreation and connection, the Club House continues to serve as a welcoming gathering space. Today, the Belinda Barry Wing supports learning, community connection, and reflection — linking the past with the present.

As part of restoration and stabilisation works, the following upgrades were completed:

✅ Install the steel structure to stabilise the building
✅ Remove previous ceiling and metal framework for floating ceiling
✅ Install timber battens for new ceiling
✅ Install new ceiling lights and fans
✅ Construct feature pillars to hide support beams
✅ Sand and revarnish floors
✅ Paint walls and ceiling

This project was supported by the Western Australian State Heritage Grants Program 2025–2026, helping preserve the building for future generations.

The Belinda Barry Wing is now open for business. We invite you to experience this unique space and host your events in a setting rich with history.

Fairbridge thanks the Heritage Council of Western Australia, Alcoa Australia, Fairbridge College students, and our maintenance team for their contributions.

A great team effort with an outstanding result.

What a wonderful morning of community, connection, and generosity at the Cancer Council Australia Biggest Morning Tea held at Fairbridge Village on Thursday, 21 May 2026.

Thanks to the incredible support of our guests, staff, students, and community members, we proudly raised almost $1,000 in donations to support those affected by cancer. Every contribution makes a difference, and we are truly grateful to everyone who attended and donated.

We were also honoured to welcome Mr Richard Hinch, the President of the Old Fabridgian Association who shared his heartfelt stories and memories of life at Fairbridge in the early days. Thank you, Rick, for taking us on a journey through history and sharing such meaningful experiences with our community.

A special thank you to the students from Fairbridge College Pinjarra for capturing the beautiful moments throughout the event through photography. Your creativity and effort helped preserve the memories of this meaningful day.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make the morning so special!

Exciting refurbishment works are continuing across Fairbridge Village as we invest in improving our cottages and facilities for guests and the wider community.

Recent upgrades include:

✨ Heath Cottage:
- Exterior painting works
- Installation of new louvres
- Painting of the downstairs single bedroom

✨ Belinda Barry:
- Removal of the remaining old ceiling
- Removal of redundant beams
- Removal of the previous floating ceiling frame
- Preparation and installation of new rafters to support the new ceiling
- New ceiling installation to commence following electrical works

✨ Lights:
Solar lights are being installed on street signs to help illuminate pathways for guests at night

✨ Wolfe Cottage:
- This is part of a site-wide project to replace existing louvres across all cottages over approximately five years
- The current louvres are mismatched, damaged, and difficult to operate

These improvements are part of a long-term site-wide project to replace outdated and damaged louvres over the next five years, helping preserve the charm, comfort, and functionality of our historic cottages.

Thank you to everyone involved in these ongoing improvements around the Village!

A proud work experience student, apprentice, and trainee from Fairbridge College Pinjarra are captured in action in these photos!
