Mikosei builds a new career in IT 🖥

After working in creative freelance roles, Mikosei decided to challenge herself by entering a more technical, problem‑solving field.

“I wanted to test myself in a completely different environment,” Mikosei said.

She completed a Certificate III in Information Technology (ICT30120), before continuing her studies with a Diploma of Information Technology (ICT50220), building industry‑relevant skills and confidence along the way.

For Sarah Bollard, teaching baking is a full-circle moment.

After starting her own training journey at TAFE Queensland and building a successful career as a chef, pastry chef and business owner, Sarah is now helping the next generation of bakers develop their skills and confidence.

"My career path was because of TAFE. And if I can just do a little bit for my students, the way that the educators did for me when I was at TAFE, then that's more than enough, I think."

From fresh bread to cinnamon buns, Sarah is passing on her passion for baking one student at a time.

TAFE Queensland has been part of Clinton's career journey from apprentice to refrigeration mechanic and licensed electrician. Now, he's returned once again to build new skills in the growing renewable energy sector. 🔋

Clinton recently completed a Grid-Connected Battery Storage Systems Designer-Installer Skill Set (UEESS00191), fully funded through the TAFE Centre of Excellence Clean Energy Batteries.

Yesterday was a fantastic opportunity to showcase what makes TAFE Queensland so special!

We were proud to welcome Townsville Enterprise to our campus, with our CEO Tim Rawlings, Executive Team and TAFE Queensland staff coming together to showcase our amazing facilities, industry-ready training environments and the incredible opportunities we offer our students and the wider Townsville community.

It was a great chance to share the work we’re doing to support skills, training and workforce development across the region and to highlight the people and facilities behind it all.

A big thank you to the Townsville Enterprise members for visiting and to everyone who helped make the evening such a success. We loved showing you around! 👏

🦷 This National Science Week, we’re celebrating the science behind every smile!

Sara started her journey at TAFE Queensland as a dental prosthetics student after moving to Australia, and now she’s back in the lab teaching others.

From creating dentures to working with real patients in our public clinics, Sara’s story shows how hands-on learning and science come together to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Now, as a Clinical Demonstrator, she’s helping our students build the same skills and confidence she once had.

Science isn’t just in textbooks – it’s in every smile our students help create.

A big milestone for our Youth Justice cohort. 👏 The group has completed their final face-to-face class in youth work with educator Deb Leigh, wrapping up workshop delivered by Ross Romano from CORES Queensland.
