Wonderful to welcome Year 6 students and their teacher Robert from Pickering Brook Primary School to The Parliament of Western Australia for a tour, earlier this year. 🏛️

It was especially lovely to meet descendants of George Spriggs, a former local orchardist, Kalamunda Shire Councillor and Member for Darling Range, who represented our community in the Western Australian Parliament from 1977 to 1987.

Born in 1926, George Spriggs lived and worked in Pickering Brook, where he owned a general store and service station before entering public life. His contribution to the Perth Hills and local community remains an important part of our history.

Great conversations, plenty of smiles, and a really enjoyable visit all round. Thank you for making the trip into the city and for sharing a little piece of local history with me. 😊

Check out what our P&C will have on offer at the carnival, Friday 28 August 2026.
