Our Year 8 Digital Technology students are this term looking at the use of drones in real-world scenarios.

Students are investigating the impact of earthquakes in Nepal and exploring how drone technology can be used to deliver vital medical supplies to remote communities when roads and hospitals are inaccessible. โ›ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ“ฆ

To celebrate the recent Feast of the Assumption of Mary, which commemorates the end of her earthly life and being raised body and soul into heaven, our Year 10 RE students worked on creating a re-presentation of the Miraculous Medal, using foam, foil and etching skills.

The Miraculous Medal is a Catholic devotional medal known for its association with miracles, conversions, and blessings. ๐Ÿ™

What a fantastic week of discovery, curiosity and innovation we had last week for National Science Week!

This year, our students celebrated by:

๐Ÿš€ Interviewing an astronaut about space seeds
๐ŸŒฑ Sowing seeds of innovation and curiosity
๐Ÿƒ Making and testing seed helicopters
๐ŸŽจ Creating dandelion fingerprints
๐ŸŒฟ Learning about Indigenous bush foods
๐Ÿงฉ Completing puzzles about plant life cycles
โ˜• Celebrating with a yummy morning tea
๐Ÿ† Competing in a CH quiz
๐Ÿ“š Reading books about plants
โ™ป๏ธ Making recycled paper seed bookmarks
๐Ÿค“ Wearing nerdy shirts
๐ŸŒฐ Sorting seeds
๐Ÿ“ Playing "Pin the Stem on the Strawberry"

To top it all off, we were thrilled to place 2nd in the world in the EP Science Competition, competing against more than 1,000 schools worldwide! ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿฅˆ

National Science Week was a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore the world around them, ask questions, think creatively and develop a deeper appreciation for science and sustainability.

We're halfway through National Science Week! โš—๐Ÿ”ฌโš›

And speaking of science, four of our Year 10 students recently represented the College in the Brain Bee State Final held at the The University of Western Australia!

In addition to competing, the students got to listen to keynote presentations by researchers & doctors about brain diseases & new treatments, and viewed wet specimens & models of the brain. ๐Ÿง 

The students also had hands on experiences including creating an action potential in a cockroach leg, and using a transcranial magnetic stimulation probe.

We are glad to give it a new home and the Music Department and students at the College are very appreciative for the donation!

Thank you also to Micheรกl McCarthy, Director of Programs at the Cottage Music Foundation for organising the donation and to Andrew from Slipstream for delivering the piano to us this morning! ๐Ÿ’œ

Our staff and Year 12 students are all set for next week's Worldโ€™s Greatest Shave!

Weโ€™ve teamed up with Sustainable Salons to recycle hair into charitable wigs for Australians with cancer.

Hair too short to be used for wigs will go toward making floating hair booms to mop up oil spills in our oceans.

Students are encouraged to come to the amphitheatre at lunchtime next Tuesday to support our students and staff.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the fight against blood cancer.

Congratulations to our Junior (Years 7-9) and Senior (Years 10-12) Girls Netball Teams, who have both come out victorious in the recent South Eastern Associated Schools (SEAS) Competition!

Both teams now sit top of the rankings as champions of the SEAS.
