Sowing the seeds of Science! Growing our knowledge as our school grows. Nurturing knowledge and growth for all.🌱
Year 7 classes took part in a learning activity on how seeds disperse to form a new plant. There are several different methods and one of those is to disperse by wind. The students put their origami skills to the test to show how wind disperses a seed and the shape affects the time taken to disperse.

On Sunday 16 August 2026, a team of Piara Waters Senior High School students competed in the DPIRD
Innovation Challenge at Curtin Stadium.

Students worked together to research a real-world challenge, developed an innovative solution and presented their ideas to a panel of judges.

The event gave our students the opportunity to showcase their creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills while applying their STEM knowledge to real industry issues. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, enthusiasm and the way they represented our school throughout the competition.

Fun Friday this week was all about encouraging our students to be BodyKind—showing kindness to their own bodies and to others. Our wonderful student leaders led an engaging “True or False” activity and shared resources to help students build and maintain a positive body image. Students also enjoyed the glorious winter sunshine and had fun connecting with each other over lawn games and great tunes. SAVE THE DATE – 2026 Piara Waters SHS Athletics Carnival!
Parents and carers, please save the date for the Piara Waters SHS Athletics Carnival on Friday, 4 September 2026 (Week 7, Term 3).
This is one of the biggest events on our school calendar, bringing together students from all four houses—Brunonia Bull Sharks, Corymbia Crocs, Grevillea Goannas, and Rhodantha Redbacks—for a day of competition, house spirit, and school pride.

More information regarding venue, schedules, permission requirements, and carnival details will be shared closer to the event. We look forward to another fantastic day of participation, teamwork, and celebrating student achievement.
