💙 Happy Father’s Day! 💙

Today we celebrate all the wonderful fathers, grandfathers, uncles, father figures and those who are like fathers in the lives of our children.
A heartfelt thank you to all of these special men for joining us and celebrating with our school community at our Father’s Day Liturgy. Your love, guidance, encouragement and presence make such a difference.

📖Big Book Giveaway 2026 📖

We think these smiles say it all! There was so much excitement at our annual Big Book Giveaway today, part of our Book Week celebrations, as students browsed hundreds of pre-loved books and chose special stories to take home and keep forever! Thank you to our OLW families and local libraries for their donations and Ms Daley for helping inspire a lifelong love of reading in our students.

📚Book Week Parade Celebrations 📚

Our annual Book Week Parade on Monday, beginning our Book Week Celebrations, was one to remember! With a record turnout of students and staff dressed as beloved book characters, our school community truly embraced the joy of reading and storytelling. From classic favourites to creative new characters, there was plenty to admire, including a surprise appearance from some talented Michael Jackson impersonators! Together, we celebrated the power of books to inspire imagination, spark creativity and create a beautiful . We are looking forward to our Big Book Giveaway on Thursday and The Twits performance next week as we continue to celebrate the joys of reading at OLW!

🙏👼🏻 Feast of the Assumption of Mary 👼🏻🙏

Last Friday, Our Lady of the Way celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of Mary with a wonderful day of faith, creativity and community. 💙

Students participated in a range of liturgical activities, including decorating beautiful Mary stained-glass windows, practising our school song, and creating their own footprints as a symbol of following in the footsteps of Mary.

We also began building excitement for our upcoming Book Week celebrations by introducing the 2026 CBCA Shortlisted Book, The Colours of Home by Sally Soweol Hann. 📚🌈 Students then used their House colours to design their very own jerseys inspired by the story.

It was a wonderful day filled with learning, creativity and faith, and a great time was had by students and staff alike! 🙏

💜Bullying. No Way! Week💜

Today, our school community joined together to recognise Bullying No Way! Week by wearing a splash of purple. Through our values of connection, courage and curiosity, we continue to build a culture where everyone feels seen, heard and valued. Whether it's including someone in a game, using kind words or standing up for others, we can all play a part in making a positive difference. Together, we say Bullying. No Way!

🧯🚒 Emergency Services Visit 🚒🧯

Our Year 1 and 2 students recently welcomed local firefighters as part of their Health unit on help-seeking strategies and staying safe. Students learned when and how to seek help in an emergency, explore the fire truck, and asked plenty of thoughtful questions. A huge thank you to Petrie Fire & Rescue Station for helping our students build knowledge and confidence to keep themselves and others safe!
