🌸 HELLO SPRING! 🌸

Winter is officially DONE! 🙌☀️

There’s something about the first day of spring that feels like a little reset — longer days, warmer weather and hopefully a bit more energy after what can feel like a very long winter. 🌿

If semester is starting to feel heavy, consider this your reminder that you don’t have to tackle everything at once.

🌷 One assessment at a time.
🌷 One shift at a time.
🌷 One small step at a time.
🌷 Ask for help when you need it.

Whether you’re studying nursing, heading out on placement, surviving assessments or already working those busy shifts — keep going. You’re getting there. 🩺🩷

Happy first day of spring from Aussie Nurse Mentor! 🌸☀️

🩷 It’s been a while… so let me reintroduce myself!

There are quite a few new faces here, so I thought it was time I said hello again 👋

I’m Stephanie — the nurse and educator behind Aussie Nurse Mentor.

I’ve worked in healthcare for around 15 years, starting as a PCA before becoming an EN and then an RN. My clinical background is predominantly surgical and orthopaedic nursing, but over the years I’ve worked across a broad range of clinical areas.

My career looks a little different these days. After years of balancing clinical nursing, education and leadership roles, I’ve recently made the move into academia permanently, working in nursing education while remaining connected to clinical practice.

Keeping that connection to nursing is really important to me. It keeps my teaching current, practical and connected to the realities of healthcare.

I’m also completing my Master of Health Professions Education, with a growing interest in nursing education, student engagement, transition to university and retention.

And somewhere amongst all of that… Aussie Nurse Mentor was created. 🩷

I started this little business because I could see how many nursing students were capable of doing the work but were struggling to understand what was actually being asked of them.

Sometimes you don’t need someone to give you the answer.

You need someone to explain it differently. Break it into smaller pieces. Look at what you’ve written and help you recognise where you’re going off track.

Or sometimes you simply need someone to say, “Yep — you’re actually heading in the right direction.”

That’s what I want Aussie Nurse Mentor to be.

I’m an educator first. I won’t do your assessments for you, but I will teach, guide, explain, challenge and support you to develop your own knowledge, skills and confidence.

Outside of my professional life, I’m also a wife and mum of four, so life is generally organised chaos! I understand that studying often has to fit around work, family and everything else life throws at us.

Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or you’ve only just found my page — welcome to Aussie Nurse Mentor. 🩷

I’m glad you’re here.

A small pricing update 🩷

From now, Aussie Nurse Mentor mentoring and academic guidance will be $65 per hour.

I’ve tried to keep this increase as small as possible because I know the cost of living is hitting everyone — and being a student certainly isn’t getting any cheaper!

It’s really important to me that individualised support remains affordable and accessible, particularly when sometimes an hour of guidance, reassurance or simply having someone help you make sense of things can make a huge difference.

For those who need a little more ongoing support, discounted rates will be available for block bookings, helping to keep the overall cost down.

My approach isn’t changing. I’ll continue providing practical, individualised guidance that helps you build your own understanding, confidence and skills.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Aussie Nurse Mentor and continues to recommend me to other students. It genuinely means a lot. 🩷

Nursing school can be hard. Some weeks you feel like you’ve got it together, and other weeks you’re wondering how you’re going to get through the next assessment.

You don’t have to understand everything straight away.

Sometimes you just need someone to explain it differently, break it into smaller pieces, help you understand what the assessment is actually asking, or give you feedback so you know you’re heading in the right direction.

At Aussie Nurse Mentor, the goal isn’t to do the work for you — it’s to help you build the confidence and skills to do it yourself. 🌿

We currently have capacity to take on more undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students for mentoring and academic support.

Keep going. Ask questions. Take it one step at a time.

You’re learning — you’re not expected to know it all yet.

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes at the moment — both personally and professionally — but Aussie Nurse Mentor is still here and continuing to support nursing students. 🩺📚💛

Whether you’re at the beginning of your nursing journey, approaching the end of your studies, or somewhere in between, sometimes you just need a little extra support.

Struggling to understand an assessment, marking rubric or course content? You don’t always need hours of mentoring. Sometimes it’s about breaking things down into small, manageable chunks, explaining what’s actually being asked, and helping you work out where to start.

Support is available for:

* Understanding assessment instructions and marking rubrics
* Breaking down complex nursing concepts and course content
* Assessment planning and structure
* Feedback on your drafts and academic writing
* Referencing and academic skills
* Study planning and getting back on track
* Graduate program applications
* Resume and cover letter guidance
* Interview preparation and transitioning from student to graduate nurse

The aim isn’t to do the work for you — it’s to help you understand what you’re doing, build your confidence and develop skills you can take with you throughout your studies and into nursing practice.

Even with lots happening in my own personal and professional life, I’m still here, mentoring and supporting the next generation of nurses. 💙

If you need a little help — whether it’s a quick question, a small chunk of support or something more comprehensive — send Aussie Nurse Mentor a DM or contact us via email.

🚨 Why Are Graduate Nurses Leaving? 🚨

I’m currently working on something in the background and I need your help.

Across Australia, we’re hearing the same concerns:

❓ Graduate nurses leaving within their first 12 months
❓ Burnout occurring earlier than ever
❓ New nurses struggling to transition into practice
❓ Experienced nurses feeling stretched and unsupported

But assumptions aren’t enough.

I want to hear directly from the nurses on the ground.

💬 What are you seeing in your workplace?
💬 Why do you think graduate nurses are leaving?
💬 What’s working well?
💬 What isn’t working?
💬 What support has made the biggest difference?
💬 What would you change if you could?

Whether you’re a graduate nurse, experienced clinician, educator, manager or mentor, your perspective matters.

Your feedback will help shape future conversations and initiatives focused on supporting nurses, improving retention, reducing burnout and strengthening the transition from student to registered nurse.

Please share your thoughts in the comments or send me a message.

Together, let’s find solutions—not just talk about the problems.
